The McMurtry Spéirling, a record-breaking electric track car, has taken the EV scene by storm. Designed and produced by British-based manufacturer McMurtry Automotive, the Spéirling PURE is the first-ever electric fan car that customers will be able to own and drive. The McMurtry Spéirling is a special type of car known as a “fan car,” which utilizes a specially designed fan mounted at the rear to generate downward force and enhance grip on the racetrack. This unique fan system can generate over 4,400 pounds of downward force, providing exceptional cornering grip that enables the car to accelerate and take on corners with incredible ingenuity.

While the Spéirling’s top speed is impressive, it is the exceptional cornering grip on low-speed corners that thrills drivers and spectators. The car’s ability to achieve 3G cornering forces allows drivers to navigate even the harshest corners with minimal deceleration.

Lest We Forget The Incredible Performance At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

The Spéirling gained massive attention after its record-breaking hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Videos of the event showcased the car’s incredible speed and agility, leaving viewers in awe. The car can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 1.4 seconds and 0 to 186.4 mph in just nine seconds, making it one of the fastest cars in existence.

Furthermore, the Spéirling’s fan system adds a unique feature – a jet-engine-like noise that adds to the thrill of watching the car in action. This noise, typically absent in electric cars, provides the Spéirling with an unexpected yet necessary feature that adds to its overall appeal on the tracks.

Production Car Will Be Even Better Than The Goodwood Car

The Spéirling PURE, an enhanced version of the Goodwood record-breaking car, will make its debut at this year’s Goodwood festival. Several improvements have been incorporated into the new version, including increased fan and gearbox efficiency, wider tires, and a better battery thermal management system. These enhancements allow the car to complete multiple full-race circuit laps and recharge faster during racing.

McMurtry Automotive plans to commercially produce the Spéirling, giving customers the opportunity to own and drive this exclusive car. However, production will be limited to only 100 pieces, each priced at a little over $1 million.

A Special Exhibition: INSOLARE by Eva Nielsen and Marianne Derrien

INSOLARE is a unique exhibition created by artist Eva Nielsen and curator Marianne Derrien. The project was developed as part of the BMW ART MAKERS program, which aims to promote innovation in the visual arts. INSOLARE will be showcased for the first time at Les Rencontres d’Arles and later exhibited at Paris Photo in November 2023.

The BMW ART MAKERS Program

The BMW ART MAKERS program, initiated by BMW Group France, supports a duo of artists and curators each year in creating a joint project. The program provides a grant of 10,000 euros to the artist and 8,000 euros to the curator. Additionally, a budget of 15,000 euros is allocated for research, production, and exhibitions of the works. This program highlights BMW’s dedication to fostering creativity and innovation in the field of visual arts.

About the INSOLARE Exhibition

The INSOLARE project is an experiment that exemplifies the spirit of the BMW ART MAKERS program. Created by Eva Nielsen and Marianne Derrien, the exhibition explores the concept of time and the transformation of urban and Camargue landscapes. By combining poetic and scientific elements, the artists address the environmental changes that are causing the disappearance of various landscapes where human impact is constantly questioned.

Exploring Geographical and Geological Changes

Artist Eva Nielsen has focused on examining geographical and geological changes, a subject that is often overlooked by female artists. Nielsen has extensively explored the Camargue region, capturing numerous photographs. Through her artwork, which incorporates photography, silk-screening, painting, and printing, she presents a unique perspective and transfiguration of the landscapes. Nielsen’s work reflects her deep understanding of the territory’s architecture and environment.

The Vision of the Curator Marianne Derrien

Curator Marianne Derrien explains that INSOLARE combines optical and hydro-geological phenomena with the technical process of exposure, primarily used in screen-printing. This project captures the essence of both rural and industrial realities, intertwining the experiences of the artists and the diverse territories at the gateway to Arles.

Innovative Scenography for Ecological Conservation

The exhibition’s scenography has been designed with environmental conservation in mind. The use of materials has been minimized, and suspended metal structures have replaced traditional picture rails. These structures will be repurposed for the Paris Photo exhibition in November 2023.

2023 Harley-Davidson Homecoming Schedule of Events

Get ready for the 2023 Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The four-day event will take place from July 13 to 16, 2023, and promises a lineup of exciting activities for the entire family.

To help you plan your visit, here’s the full schedule of events. Due to the size of the event, there will be multiple locations hosting the festivities, including the Harley-Davidson Museum, Harley-Davidson Powertrain Operations, Grant Park Beach, Bud Pavilion at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, Veterans Park, Lakefront Brewery parking lot, Cathedral Square Park, and Greenfield Avenue in West Allis, Wisconsin.

On the final day, don’t miss the official Harley-Davidson 120th Anniversary Motorcycle Parade that will pass through downtown Milwaukee. Harley Owners Group members have access to a premium parade viewing area.

The Harley-Davidson Museum and Harley-Davidson Powertrain Operations will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. The Museum will remain open until 8 p.m. and offer various displays and demos, as well as live music performances. Powertrain Operations will provide model year demo rides, factory tours, food options, and police skills riding demonstrations.

In the evening, the Harley Owners Group 40th Celebration event will take place at the Bud Pavilion, exclusively for HOG members. There will also be a community Bonfire on the Beach event at Grant Park Beach.

The Museum and Powertrain Operations will continue their programming from the previous day. The Museum will host the Flat Out Friday Boonie Bike Race and live music performances. Powertrain Operations will add food options from Johnsonville Big Taste Grill to their lineup.

Veterans Park will have a box office, food and beverage vendors, merchandise, and various shows and live music performances throughout the day. There will also be a Block Party on Greenfield Avenue and the ongoing Bastille Days festival at Cathedral Square Park.

The events at the Museum and Powertrain Operations remain largely the same. The Museum will feature the Vintage Motorcycle Field Games Showcase and more live music performances. Veterans Park will have shows, live music, and a Burger Build Off hosted by Matty Matheson. There will also be a Block Party on Greenfield Avenue and Bastille Days festival at Cathedral Square Park.

The Museum will start the day with a Harley-Davidson Membership Coffee Fuel-Up event. The Mama Tried & Friends Motorcycle Show will also take place, along with various displays, demos, and shows. Powertrain Operations will continue providing their usual lineup. Community events for the day include Bastille Days and the Harley-Davidson 120th Anniversary Motorcycle Parade in Downtown Milwaukee.

To attend the Homecoming Festival, you can purchase two-day or one-day general admission passes on the official Harley-Davidson Homecoming website. Children under 10 can enter for free with a ticketed adult. Prices may vary based on availability.
