GM’s V2H Tech Might Be Your Best Bet During Power Outages

EVs, on some ranges, are huge electrical powerhouses with wheels. Now, the batteries that energy the EVs have the potential of powering something that runs on electrical energy. The idea, as an entire, will not be new and is known as Bidirectional Charging, however GM here is expanding its ecosystem and providing the advantages of an “all-electric future”.

Unlike the V2L characteristic that we’ve seen in EVs that usually power appliances, V2H (vehicle-to-home) occurs on a a lot bigger scale. A appropriate GM EV can energy a correctly geared up dwelling – emphasis on “compatible” and “equipped home” right here – thus mitigating the impacts of weather-related energy outages. In reality, Ford’s trucks came in handy back in 2021 through the Texas winter storm and helped energy some home equipment at properties, because of its Pro Power Onboard mills. Think of V2H as a way more succesful energy generator for your own home.

However, it’s not you could simply plug and play the entire setup. The ‘GM Energy suite can be provided as bundle choices, permitting you to decide on what suits your necessities one of the best. GM has collaborated with Qmerit for this and can work in tandem to supply the V2H expertise. While the current bundle consists of the gear wanted to switch power from the EV to your own home, GM plans to broaden this by the top of the yr and even embrace stationary power storage and photo voltaic integration

“GM Energy is committed to making the transition to an all-electric lifestyle an even more compelling option by simplifying all aspects of personal energy management,” stated Wade Sheffer, vice chairman of GM Energy. “With the introduction of these new offerings, it has never been easier for our customers to access the expanded benefits of a holistic EV ecosystem, helping to mitigate the impacts of power outages and having the ability to offset certain energy costs over time.”

The first ‘compatible’ EV from the GM portfolio for the V2H perform could be the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First Edition RST. By 2026, all EVs primarily based on the Ultium platform can be appropriate.

– Maruti Suzuki debuted the eVX as a concept at the Auto Expo 2023.
– The test mule had a 360-degree camera setup and the same alloy wheels as seen on the international-spec model.
– Its cabin features connected displays and a 2-spoke steering wheel.
– To be provided with a 60kWh battery pack having a claimed range of up to 550km.
– India launch expected by 2025; could be priced from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The [Maruti Suzuki eVX](https://www.cardekho.com/maruti/evx) electric SUV recently broke cover in a more evolved concept form at the Japan Mobility Show. After its testing commenced on international shores in June 2023, the electric SUV’s trials in India have now begun. It’s slated to be the carmaker’s first all-electric vehicle for India upon its 2025 launch.

## **What Was Seen?**

In the spy shots, we can see the eVX’s test mule draped in heavy black camouflage and sporting makeshift taillights, while only giving a glimpse of its rear and side profiles. The new spy shots give an idea of its dimensions, which are likely to be in the whereabouts of those of the new [Maruti Grand Vitara](https://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Maruti/Maruti_Grand_Vitara).

You can also spot the charging port on the left front fender of the SUV. The test mule was also seen with a 360-degree camera setup (hinted by the left ORVM-mounted camera) and the same set of alloy wheels as noticed on the model spied internationally. Although its fascia wasn’t seen in this set of images, we do believe it will have LED headlights and DRLs, featuring a triangular element, and chunky bumpers.

## **Interior And Features**

While the spy shots don’t show any details of the electric SUV’s interior, Suzuki had revealed its evolved version’s cabin at the Japan auto show. The major talking point is the combined displays, with one dedicated to infotainment and the other serving as the digital instrument cluster. In addition to these screens, the interior of the eVX showcases elongated vertical slats depicting traditional AC vents, a distinctive 2-spoke steering wheel resembling a yoke, and a central console housing a rotary dial, presumably for gear selection.

## **Details Of Its Electric Powertrain**

Although Suzuki hasn’t revealed specific information about the production version of the eVX’s electric powertrain, Maruti Suzuki mentioned at the Auto Expo 2023 that the EV would be equipped with a 60kWh battery pack. This battery is claimed to provide a range of up to 550km. Additionally, it was confirmed that the eVX will have a dual-motor setup, enabling all-wheel-drive functionality.

Polestar 3 Designer Criticizes Cars Shaped Like A Potato For The Sake Of Aero

Improving the efficiency of electric vehicles (EVs) can be achieved in various ways. While reducing weight is a challenging task, achieving a sleeker shape is comparatively easier and helps increase the vehicle’s range. This is why many electric cars today have rounded edges, leading to bulbous shapes. Nahum Escobedo, the exterior design manager for the Polestar 3, isn’t particularly fond of relying too heavily on aerodynamics to maximize range.

During an interview with Australian magazine WhichCar at the local launch of the Polestar 3, Escobedo expressed his honest opinions about certain design trends in the automotive industry. He believes that sacrificing interesting design details for the sake of aerodynamics, which ultimately leads to cars resembling potatoes or jelly beans, is not the ideal approach. When asked about the aspects of car designs that annoy him, Escobedo responded by saying, “The roundness of cars that are becoming almost potato-shaped, or like a Jelly Bean because that’s perfect for aerodynamics. Obviously, we want to do something different.”

Watch: How Tata Fit An Airbag Into The Backlit Steering Wheel Of The Nexon EV Facelift

The backlit centre pad of the Nexon EV’s steering wheel has a glass-like finish, but it’s just a very specific kind of plastic

Tata Nexon EV Facelift

Tata has unveiled the Nexon facelift and Nexon EV facelift before their mid-September market launch. Both subcompact SUVs have received extensive styling upgrades, new tech features, and additional standard safety equipment. One of the standout features of the updated Nexon is its distinctive 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo in the center.

However, some people have mistaken the backlit center pad of the steering wheel as glass and are concerned that if the driver’s airbag deploys, it might shatter the pad into pieces, causing more injuries. Anand Kulkarni, Tata’s Chief Product Officer, has addressed this concern.

Plastic With A Glass-finish

In a video, Anand Kulkarni explains that the backlit center pad of the Nexon EV’s 2-spoke steering wheel is actually made of high-quality plastic, not glass. He mentions that there is a seam under the pad from which the airbags are supposed to deploy. The remaining areas of the steering pad have been reinforced to prevent shattering when the airbag deploys.
