Jaguar E-Type With Supra 2JZ Engine, BMW M3 Gearbox Will Upset Purists

The Jaguar E-Type is often regarded as one of the most stunning cars ever created, alongside the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing and the Lamborghini Miura. However, the version showcased at the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas is far from ordinary. Designed by DevSpeed Motorsports, this modified E-Type, displayed at Eneos’ booth, has sparked controversy.

As purists may cringe at the thought, this 1969 XKE 2+2 is powered by a 2JZ-GTE engine sourced from a Toyota Supra. To boost its performance, it features a Borg Warner EFR 8474 turbocharger. The power is then transmitted through a five-speed ZF manual gearbox borrowed from a BMW M3 E36.

To enhance its braking capabilities, the front brakes were taken from a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette (C5), while the rear brakes were sourced from a 2010 BMW 5 Series Sedan (535i, E60). The vehicle is equipped with 17-inch Rotiform two-piece wheels paired with Bridgestone Potenza tires measuring 225/45 R17 at the front and 255/40 R17 at the rear. The car also boasts other components from the BMW 5 Series, including the rear subframe assembly and differential.

In order to accommodate the larger tires, the E-Type underwent 3D-printed fender flares that were reinforced with carbon fiber. This modified E-Type features various aftermarket parts, such as a custom front suspension, Silvers coilovers, a DevSpeed roll cage, an OMP steering wheel, Tillett seats with Schroth harnesses, and an OBP pedal box and foot panels.

This unique E-Type is being touted as a “hot rod for the street and track” by its creators. It will be on display at SEMA 2023 until November 3, so make sure to check it out.

This Restomod Jaguar Pays Tribute to Enzo Ferrari, the Biggest Fan of the E-Type

In 1961, Enzo Ferrari famously hailed the Jaguar E-Type as “the most beautiful car ever made.” Inspired by this praise, a special Jaguar E-Type Series 1 restomod has been created to pay homage to Il Commendatore. This unique car features a body finished in Ferrari’s iconic Rosso Corsa red.

Record-Breaking Auction Sale: 1961 Jaguar E-Type Sells for $1.14M

A 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster recently made headlines by setting a new auction sale record. This iconic vehicle sold for an impressive $1.139 million (equivalent to 911,250 pounds) during Gooding & Company’s 2023 London Auction. Notably, it is the first E-Type ever sold and the fourth right-hand-drive roadster variant produced.

Adding to its significance, this particular E-Type Roadster has a fascinating backstory linked to Jaguar. It was initially owned by Frank England, who played a key role in the brand’s sports car racing program during the 1950s and later became the CEO of the automaker.
