  • Toyota doesn’t offer the convenience of an automatic on its mid-spec G variant. The top-end variant is around Rs 40,000 more affordable than the mid-spec Alpha variant of the XL6. Their features list is identical, the main additions being a 9-inch touchscreen system and a 360-degree camera.

The Rumion can be seen as a more affordable alternative to the XL6 with one additional seat, but compromises on the premium features. In the case of the Carens, it’s a bigger car, more advanced in terms of technology on offer, and available with a choice of three powertrains.

India-spec Rumion

Unlike previous Maruti and Toyota models like the Baleno and Glanza, which look almost identical to each other, the newer models have design elements that differentiate their looks. The Rumion, originally introduced as a rebadged Ertiga in 2021, had only a three-bar chrome grille to distinguish it. The 2023 Rumion now has a new front profile that bears resemblance to the Toyota Innova Hycross.

Toyota Rumion Side

The India-spec Rumion is expected to feature the same updated design with a new grille, a different front bumper, and a new set of alloy wheels. The rear and side profiles will remain identical to the previous version of the Rumion, as well as the Ertiga.

Powertrain

Toyota Rumion Manual Transmission

In the international market, the Toyota Rumion is equipped with the same powertrain as the Maruti Ertiga: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces 104PS and 138Nm of torque and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
