Zenvo Plans to Release a Smaller Hypercar, but No Electric Vehicles

The new Zenvo Aurora is an impressive vehicle with incredible power. With its quad-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 engine and electric assist, it can reach up to 1,850 horsepower and has a top speed of 280 miles per hour. Additionally, the use of a carbon fiber monocoque chassis has made the Aurora the lightest car ever produced by the Danish automaker, weighing just 3,197 pounds.

However, the Aurora is only the first step in Zenvo’s plan to create a series of hypercars based on their new carbon monocoque setup. Christian Brandt, the Head of Zenvo Design, confirms that the company is already working on a smaller and more affordable hypercar that will utilize many of the same components as the Aurora. Brandt states, “We can use this monocoque for other projects…the next product down the line is what we call a junior hypercar, so it will be smaller, more compact, and available at a lower price point. The Aurora is priced at $3 million, whereas this new hypercar will be priced at around $1.8 to $2.0 million.”

It’s not just the monocoque chassis that will be used in smaller vehicles, but also the modular design of the engine. The new 90-degree “hot-V” engine is designed to be easily adaptable, allowing for the removal of cylinders to create V8 or V6 configurations. Brandt explains, “There are four turbos, they are basically feeding three cylinders each, so if you cut it down and just have two turbos and six cylinders.”

However, one thing Zenvo won’t be pursuing is an electric hypercar. Despite the Aurora having an EV drive mode with a range of about 22 miles, Brandt states that Zenvo customers are not interested in a fully electric hypercar like competitors Rimac and Pininfarina. He affirms, “We know our clients…for sure not electric. They don’t want electric.”

Those interested in the Zenvo Aurora will have to wait until 2026 when it goes into production. The company plans to build 50 examples of the road-focused Tur trim and 50 examples of the track-capable Agil model, with a starting price of approximately $2.8 million in the US (€2.6 million).
