2024 KTM MINI 50 SX, 65 SX, & 50 FACTORY EDITION ANNOUNCED: 2-STROKE TUESDAY

KTM has redesigned the 50cc and 65cc mini bikes and is now offering a 50cc Factory Edition that comes with Red Bull graphics and an FMF exhaust, just like their full-size version. The 50cc mini model has undergone big changes, which have been kept under wraps until now. The official release and photos from KTM are shown below:

The 2024 range of KTM minicycles, now even more closely related to the full-sized KTM Motocross machines, is set to continue its championship-winning assault on the competition.

The 2024 KTM SX Minis, following the successes of the full-sized KTM SX range, bring a completely fresh approach to the development of race-ready motocross bikes aimed at grassroots racing.

Using scientific and statistical data, the 2024 KTM 50 SX has been designed to be a scaled-down version of the full-size KTM SX machine, taking into consideration the needs and body proportions of young riders. This approach started early in the design and development stages of the 2024 KTM 50 SX and all its components.

Similarly, the development of the 2024 KTM 65 SX involved close cooperation with international test riders who have successfully raced and tested the different development stages over the past two years. This has resulted in mini-crossers that not only visually resemble miniature READY TO RACE motocross bikes but also share a high level of quality and attention to detail.

2024 KTM 65SX

Both the 2024 KTM 50 SX and 2024 KTM 65 SX are built around a new, advanced steel frame with a lightweight, polyamide glass fiber reinforced steel, two-piece subframe, emphasizing top-level handling and performance essential in mini-cross.

This innovative frame allows for adjustability to accommodate a rider’s height, ensuring young riders and racers feel confident and in control of their bikes. Suspension, handlebar position, bodywork, and subframe are all adjustable to meet the growing needs of young riders. The seat height can be adjusted between 24.9 inches (634 mm) to 26.8 inches (683 mm) for the 2024 KTM 50 SX and 28.7 inches (730 mm) to 29.9 inches (760 mm) for the 2024 KTM 65 SX.

The 2024 KTM 50 SX is powered by a new engine with increased displacement and power, providing excellent racing performance for competitive young riders while remaining manageable for different ability levels. Other updates include a larger one-piece radiator for improved temperature control and a new digital ignition system that enhances ignition power and reduces trackside maintenance.

The new KTM 65 SX also has engine and radiator updates, similar to the big SX machines, and features a new digital ignition system. These improvements ensure the KTM 65 SX remains a top performer in its class.

When it comes to suspension, both mini-crossers incorporate the latest technology. The front features a 35 mm USD WP XACT AER fork, while the rear is equipped with an all-new fully adjustable WP XACT monoshock for perfect balance and damping characteristics. Both models have revised fitment and geometry to maximize performance.

In addition to the standard 2024 KTM 50 SX, the KTM 50 SX FACTORY EDITION will also be available. This special edition bike includes high-performance components such as a Red Bull KTM Factory Racing-inspired graphics kit, an orange high-grip diamante KTM FACTORY SEAT, a full FMF exhaust system, and an Iridium BRISK FE-specific spark plug. It is designed for young aspiring champions.

The 2024 KTM Sportminicycle range exemplifies KTM’s commitment to mini-cross, with the same energy and attention to detail as their race-proven full-size models. The 2024 KTM Sportminicycle range will be available at authorized KTM dealers starting in November.

Experience the Thrilling Rev of a Small-Scale V12 Engine

Get ready to witness the most amazing 50cc engine ever created. This genuine V12 engine transforms gasoline into an incredible symphony of internal combustion. With a digital readout displaying an astounding 11,502 RPM, this engine is a mechanical marvel. Equipped with custom headers, it delivers pure mechanical music without the need for higher RPMs.

This impressive engine is the creation of JohnnyQ90 on YouTube, known for his small-scale engines. Previously, he showcased small V8 engines, including a naturally aspirated version and one with a tiny supercharger. Now, it’s time to introduce the 12-cylinder engine. This single overhead cam engine holds 1.5 ounces (45 milliliters) of 15w40 oil and runs on 100 octane fuel.

Mini V12

This liquid-cooled engine features a custom cooling system. Initially, an aluminum fan with black blades was used, but it proved too small for the job. Eventually, an 80mm computer fan was replaced with a 100mm fan, efficiently preventing overheating under throttle. Mounted on an elegant aluminum plate, this engine can reach high speeds without any cooling issues.

And there’s more to this exceptional engine. The earlier version of the V12 had dual distributors for each cylinder bank, but the upgraded model boasts an electronic ignition with a coil-on-plug design. Additionally, a new flywheel has been installed at the back. With the exhaust ports fully open, the engine produces a wild and aggressive sound, reminiscent of Italian supercars. The addition of 3D-printed stainless-steel tube headers further enhances the powerful exhaust note.

The video provides temperature and RPM data for the engine. A thermal camera captures the V12 under load, revealing valve cover temperatures hovering around 91 degrees Celsius. The headers are slightly warmer at 147 degrees, but thanks to the efficient cooling system, the engine maintains a safe operating temperature. The engine idles at 3,100 rpm and reaches an exhilarating 11,502 rpm at full throttle, producing a sound reminiscent of Formula 1 cars from the V12 era.

We reached out to the YouTube channel for more details about the build process. Hopefully, we will soon have additional information to share. In the meantime, we eagerly await more incredible mini-engine creations from this channel.
