Tata EV 100,000 sales

The leading electric vehicle (EV) brand in India, Tata, has achieved a significant milestone by selling over 100,000 EVs. The Tata Nexon EV contributes to more than half of this sales figure. However, the Tata Tiago EV is expected to surpass it soon, while the Tigor EV remains a popular choice among fleet buyers. Let’s dive deeper into how Tata achieved this milestone:

Tata Nexon EVs

The Tata Nexon EV, a subcompact SUV, was Tata’s first all-electric offering in early 2020. By June 2023, it had crossed the 50,000 sales milestone. The Nexon EV is currently available in two versions – the Prime and the Max. The original Nexon EV Prime comes with a 30.2kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 312km. The newer version, Nexon EV Max, has a larger battery pack and promises a range of up to 453km on a full charge.

Tata Tiago EV

Tata recently launched the Tiago EV electric hatchback, which is the newest and smallest addition to its EV lineup. It is also the most affordable EV Tata offers, with prices starting from Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tiago EV comes with two battery options – 19.2kWh (250km range) and 24kWh (312km range). It received 20,000 bookings in the first couple of months, and over 10,000 units have already been delivered. The Tiago EV is on track to become Tata’s best-selling EV.

Tata Tigor EV

The Tigor EV may not be the highest-selling EV in Tata’s lineup, but it serves as the brand’s electric solution for fleet buyers. This subcompact electric sedan made its debut in 2021 and offers a claimed range of up to 315km with its 26kWh battery pack. Its fleet variant, called the Xpres-T, has a rated range of 277km.

Future Tata EVs

Tata Harrier EV

Tata not only dominates the EV market in India with its existing lineup but also has plans to sustain its dominance in the long run. The brand has confirmed the launch of the Punch EV, followed by new models based on fresh platforms. This includes the Harrier EV, Curvv EV, and an electric Tata Sierra, all set to arrive in 2024, and the Avinya, based on an EV-only platform, making its debut in 2025.
