Brown is ranked as the second worst color in terms of depreciating value, while black comes in third. It might be surprising to some, considering the prevalence of black cars, but this is largely due to their popularity rather than consumer preference.

Similarly, silver performs poorly in terms of retaining value among minivans, drop-tops, and off-road trucks. “Safe” colors like silver and black, which are widely accepted, actually rank near the bottom of the list. It appears that their commonality in the market undermines their ability to maintain value.

The supply and demand dynamics of color preferences may change over time, potentially altering the rankings in future reports. Even if people’s aesthetic preferences remain constant, the availability of certain colors can easily shift, and this could impact the resale value. It is feasible that a future analysis, such as one in 2024, may find a new color surpassing yellow as the most sought-after paint option for pre-owned vehicles.

Alpina, a German automobile manufacturer known for its luxurious interiors and bespoke craftsmanship, will produce less than 6000 cars before BMW takes over in 2026. The future of Alpina after the transition remains uncertain, as it is unclear whether the mechanical excellence for which the company is renowned will continue to be prioritized over profits.

Out of the limited production run, only a small number will be the B5 super-saloon model. Based on the outgoing M550i, the B5 is a performance-focused car that embodies Alpina’s philosophy of being incredibly fast yet understated. It is a flagship model for the brand.

Alpina B5 GT

The current model of the B5 is a perfect blend of a supercar’s speed and a limousine’s comfort. While it may not handle like BMW’s M5, it offers excellent body control, adjustability, and precise steering. This makes it an exceptional choice for all types of driving.

Now, Alpina introduces the B5 GT, which builds upon the strengths of the regular B5 while adding some extra features. This special model serves as a final tribute to Alpina’s involvement with the G30 5 Series and the culmination of six decades of building cars based on BMW platforms.

Only 250 units of the B5 GT will be produced, primarily in Touring estate form, and all of them have already been sold. Deliveries are scheduled to start later this year, but customers who have selected the full Lavalina leather interior may have to wait until the end of 2024, as Alpina’s meticulous craftsmanship takes time.

Mechanically, the B5 GT is mostly similar to the previous B5, which is no longer available. However, it features a new intake and some electronic enhancements that increase the power output of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine from 612bhp to 625bhp. This makes it the most powerful car in Alpina’s history, with an official top speed of 205mph, although unofficially it can reach 220mph.

But what truly sets this car apart is its astonishing mid-range performance, especially in real-world driving situations. The torque output is exceptional, with the B5 GT producing 13% more torque than the M5 CS. With 627lb ft available from 3500rpm, it rivals the power of Aston Martin’s recent DBS 770 Ultimate.

2023 Fiat Topolino EV Unveiled In Two Flavors, Starts At $10,770

Fiat has officially unveiled its smallest electric vehicle, the Fiat Topolino quadricycle. This compact car measures 2.53 meters (99.6 inches) in length.

The Fiat Topolino is based on the Citroën Ami but features different front and rear designs to give it a distinct Fiat look. It is available in two body configurations: the closed Topolino for city driving and the open Topolino Dolcevita, which has a beach-themed design. The Dolcevita model comes with a large canvas roof, ropes instead of doors, and other unique features.

Both variants of the Fiat Topolino are priced at $10,770 (9,890 euros) in Italy. The Topolino is slightly more expensive than the base Citroën Ami but offers higher levels of equipment. Additionally, it exceeds the features of its Opel Rocks Electric twin.

Some of the notable equipment included in the Topolino are a chrome luggage rack called the Dolcevita Box, which provides a practical fabric band for storing personal items, and vintage chrome-effect mirrors.

Rear

The most significant update to the rear of the SUV is the new connected LED taillight setup. The Seltos now features either the “GT” or “7DCT” badge on the bottom right side of the tailgate, which varies depending on the chosen variant.

Another notable change is the sporty dual tip exhaust setup exclusive to the GT Line and X-Line variants. It is expected to produce a distinct exhaust note.

Cabin

The facelifted Seltos now offers a black and brown interior theme, while the black and grey theme is retained for the GT Line variants. The cabin inserts and the finish for the leatherette seats vary depending on the chosen variant and include brown, black, and green shades.

The updated dashboard and console feature slimmer central air conditioning vents and a revised climate control panel to accommodate the new dual-zone AC system. It also incorporates dual 10.25-inch integrated displays, one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation.

Traditionally, Rolls-Royce coupés have prominent grilles and long bonnets, however, as Rolls-Royce aims to transition to fully electric vehicles by 2030, the necessity of these design elements may change.

The Spectre’s side profile showcases the longest doors ever fitted on a modern Rolls-Royce, measuring 1.5m each. Inside, the lavish interior accommodates four passengers, featuring familiar chair styles and luxurious surface materials, ensuring existing Rolls-Royce customers feel at home. CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös emphasizes the desire for customers to always recognize the Rolls-Royce experience, even blindfolded (not recommended during test drives).

The interior boasts broad leather seats, thick woolen carpets, and authentic metal or composite major switches. Preserving the traditional Rolls-Royce feel, the Spectre aims to recreate the experience of driving a mid-century Rolls, despite incorporating a new drivetrain.

The Spectre uses a version of BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, offering both a touchscreen and a rotary controller. Rolls-Royce has customized the appearance and software for intuitive navigation, and the climate dials provide a satisfyingly analogue experience.
