Toyota’s Successful Gold Cup Campaign

Tundra supports Latino small businesses and their communities

PLANO, Texas (July 20, 2023) – The 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup concluded in Los Angeles, Calif., with enthusiastic fans cheering for their favorite teams. Toyota, the official automotive sponsor of the tournament, showcased the powerful Toyota Tundra at the games.

Building on the success of last year’s “Born to Lend a Hand” campaign, Toyota launched a multi-faceted marketing effort focused on empowering small businesses. Throughout the tournament, Toyota connected with and shared the stories of Latino small business owners, highlighting its dedication to the community and the reliability of the Tundra.

“Soccer holds a significant place in Hispanic culture, bringing together diverse generations as they support their beloved teams,” said Russ Koble, Senior Manager of Sports Sponsorships at Toyota Motor North America. “We were thrilled to be part of the Gold Cup tournament once again and share the journey with small businesses and local artists.”

The Gold Cup stage featured various businesses through video board mentions, field signage, and public announcements. At select games, the Tundra towed in small businesses to participate in the action. In Dallas, Castillo’s Barbershop and Hola Café were showcased. These businesses showcased their services and products to fans during pre-game activities. More information about the businesses featured during the tournament can be found at https://www.toyota.com/espanol/brand/.

Toyota also partnered with soccer legend Luis “El Matador” Hernández, a former Mexican National team player, who shared his inspiring story and helped promote support for Latino small businesses during the tournament. In Dallas, Texas, on July 8, Hernández posed with fans and the Gold Cup trophy outside the stadium.

Exciting Fan Zone and Trophy Appearances
Attendees at the Gold Cup enjoyed a lively pre-game Fan Zone, featuring the Toyota Fútbol Club. This engaging area offered games, music, and locally curated soccer-themed artwork to entertain soccer enthusiasts of all ages. Fans also had the opportunity to take photos with the Gold Cup Trophy at select venues.

The campaign was executed through various channels, including broadcast, digital, and social media platforms, as well as on-site activations. The sponsorship and creative elements were developed by Conill, Toyota’s Hispanic marketing partner.

This marks Toyota’s fourth consecutive Concacaf Gold Cup as the official automotive sponsor. The tournament featured the best teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. In 2024, Toyota will also be part of the inaugural Women’s Gold Cup tournament, adding to the excitement.

Tesla Cybertruck finally enters production

Tesla has finally started production of its Cybertruck at its Gigafactory in Texas. This comes almost four years after the electric vehicle (EV) was first unveiled. The first production Cybertruck was revealed on Tesla’s social media channels, showcasing factory workers at the Texan headquarters. It is expected that Tesla will meet its revised target of delivering the pick-up to customers by the end of September, although this is a two-year delay from the original 2021 launch date.

The Cybertruck is a rival to Ford’s F-150 Lightning and is the same length as traditional competitors. However, it features a unique and distinctive design both inside and out. The EV has a radical wedge-shape design, no front grille, angular window frames, and bodywork with minimal curvature. The body of the Cybertruck is made of ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel and is claimed to be bulletproof against 9mm bullets.

Customers will have three powertrain options to choose from, with one, two, or three electric motors. The single-motor, rear-wheel-drive version has a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds and an estimated range of 250 miles. It can tow up to 3400kg and has a payload of 1360kg. The starting price for this variant is expected to be $39,900 (around £30,600) before any government incentives, according to Tesla’s launch details. All variants of the Cybertruck are said to be capable of charging at 1MW (1000kW), similar to the Tesla Semi.

The mid-range dual-motor variant offers all-wheel drive, a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds, and the ability to tow more than 4500kg. The starting price for this version is anticipated to be $49,900 (£38,300) before incentives. The top-of-the-line Cybertruck will feature Tesla’s latest tri-motor Plaid EV powertrain, which is also used in the Tesla Model S Plaid. Priced from $69,900 (£53,700), it boasts a claimed range of 500 miles, a 0-60mph time of 2.9 seconds, and the ability to complete a quarter-mile in just over 10 seconds. Additionally, it has a towing capacity of 6350kg, as confirmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Toyota Recalls Certain 2023 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, Tacoma, and Lexus RX and 2024 NX Models

PLANO, Texas (July 12, 2023) Toyota is conducting a safety recall in the U.S. for certain 2023 model year Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross hybrid, Highlander, Highlander hybrid, Tacoma, as well as Lexus RX and RX hybrid and 2024 model year NX and NX hybrid vehicles. This recall affects approximately 110,000 vehicles in the U.S.

The issue with the affected vehicles is with the spiral cable assembly in the steering column. There is a possibility that it may lose its electrical connection on the circuit that controls the driver’s airbag. If this happens, the airbag warning light will turn on, and the driver’s airbag may not deploy in the event of a crash. This non-compliance with federal motor vehicle safety requirements could increase the risk of injury to the driver.

To address this issue, Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the serial number of the spiral cable and, if necessary, replace it with a new cable free of charge for customers. Affected owners will be notified about this recall by early September 2023.

Toyota Recalls Certain 2021-2022 Model Year Toyota RAV4 Prime and Certain 2022 Model Year Lexus NX450h+ Plug-in Hybrid Models

PLANO, Texas (July 12, 2023) – Toyota is recalling certain Toyota RAV4 Prime and Lexus NX450h+ vehicles from the 2021-2022 model years in the U.S. This recall affects approximately 43,000 vehicles.

The issue involves a component in the vehicles’ manufacturing process that converts electricity voltage. This component may be damaged and could lead to a short circuit, causing excessive heat. In certain conditions, this heat could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

To address this safety concern, Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the problematic DC-DC converter with an improved part at no cost to customers. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified about this recall by early September 2023.

It’s important to note that the information regarding automotive recalls, including the list of affected vehicles, is current as of the filing date and may change in the future. Toyota Recalls Certain 2023 Tundra, Tundra Hybrid and Sequoia Hybrid Models

PLANO, Texas (July 7, 2023) – Toyota is issuing a safety recall in the U.S. for specific 2023 Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and Sequoia Hybrid vehicles. This recall affects approximately 1,400 vehicles in the U.S.

The affected vehicles have a spare tire carrier assembly that utilizes a steel chain to secure the spare tire underneath the vehicle. It has been discovered that the chain links may not have been welded properly. As a result, these chain links could break at any time, causing the spare tire to detach from the vehicle. If this happens while the vehicle is in motion, the detached spare tire could pose a road hazard to other drivers and vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

To address this issue, Toyota dealerships will replace the spare tire carrier assembly with a new one at no charge to the owners of affected vehicles. Toyota plans to notify owners about this recall by early September 2023.

Please note that the information regarding automotive recalls, including the list of affected vehicles, is accurate as of the date of this announcement and is subject to change in the future. Toyota Recalls Certain 2023 Camry and Camry Hybrid Models

PLANO, Texas (June 15, 2023) – Toyota is recalling a specific group of Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles in the U.S. This recall affects approximately 300 vehicles.

The issue with these vehicles is that the lug nuts may have been tightened insufficiently. As a result, the lug nuts may become loose and detach, potentially causing a wheel to come off while driving with low mileage. This poses a significant risk of losing control of the vehicle and increases the chances of a crash. It is crucial that owners of these vehicles refrain from driving them until the necessary repairs have been made.

To address the issue, Toyota dealers will inspect the lug nuts of the affected vehicles and tighten them to the correct specifications. If any damaged components are found, they will be replaced free of charge for the owners.

Starting from June 15, 2023, Toyota will inform the owners of the affected vehicles about the recall through various communication channels.
