Semi-Truck Drag Racing: An Unexpected and Thrilling Spectacle

Semi-trucks are typically associated with hauling heavy loads on highways, not with high speed and rapid acceleration. However, in the world of drag racing, these massive machines defy expectations. With tuned engines, they emit clouds of black smoke as they tear down the track.

In a 40-minute video dedicated to semi-truck drag racing, viewers are treated to a variety of thrilling runs. While it’s best to scrub through the entire video to see the wide array of trucks on display, there are a few highlights to look out for.

One exciting moment occurs around eight minutes and 33 seconds when semi-trucks pulling trailers engage in a drag race. These big rigs haul three bundles of logs weighing multiple tons. The twist in this run is that the truck on the left generates so much torque that the hood visibly twists.

Another notable run takes place at 18:11, where a semi-truck on the left flexes and twists as it leaves the starting line. Both competitors release a substantial amount of black smoke as they cover the distance.

If you’re interested in witnessing particularly fast runs, skip to 21:33 or 35:36 in the video. While the exact quarter-mile times of these trucks are not provided, they appear to be much quicker than the other runs in the clip.

In addition to the intense races, the sound these trucks produce is worth mentioning. Equipped with big turbos to boost their performance, they emit a whistling sound that resembles a jet flying down the track.

One of the most eye-catching rigs appears at 27:41. This truck features a large turbo inlet protruding from its hood and an orange flame paint scheme. With the exhaust positioned in front of the passenger side of the windshield, it is impossible to miss. This truck makes multiple appearances throughout the video.

Train Crashes and Derails After Colliding with Stuck Semi-Truck

In a shocking incident in Iberia Parish, Louisiana, a BNSF train crashed into a semi-truck that was stuck on the railroad tracks, causing a derailment. Videos of the incident were captured and show the dramatic scene. Cleanup operations are still ongoing a day after the crash.

The collision occurred at around 5:00 PM local time on August 21, 2023, at the intersection of LA Highway 182 and Airport Boulevard. As a result, the police had to close off the area and redirect traffic. Initially, the authorities evacuated the surrounding area for safety reasons, but people were allowed back after two hours.

The video above combines two separate clips. The first clip starts just as the train is about to hit the semi-truck, followed by a massive cloud of smoke that obscures the area. The second clip provides a better view of the vehicle stuck on the railroad crossing and the ensuing collision.

Motor1.com reached out to BNSF for a statement regarding the incident. According to a spokesperson from the railway company, “At approximately 5 PM CST on Monday, a train struck a semi-truck that was occupying the Airport Boulevard crossing in New Iberia, Louisiana. This resulted in the derailment of 20 railcars and two locomotives, which were carrying mixed freight including plastic pellets. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the crew, and no hazardous materials were compromised. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. Highway 182 is closed in both directions from the Iberia Parish line to Darby Lane while BNSF personnel work alongside local law enforcement to clear the incident.”

In addition to the plastic pellets, the train was also transporting acrylic acid. “That commodity was not compromised,” confirmed a BNSF spokesperson to Motor1.com.

A separate statement on BNSF’s website indicates that the estimated time for reopening the main track is Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 4:00 AM.

According to The Daily Iberian, a local newspaper, the semi-truck driver managed to escape the vehicle before the crash. While some debris struck a white van, fortunately, no one inside the van was injured.

Human Waste Spill On I-95 In Connecticut Causes Chaos and Wrecked Police Cars

A semi-truck carrying human waste started leaking on Interstate 95 near Bridgeport, Connecticut, on Monday night, turning the road into a slippery mess. While no one was seriously injured, the spill resulted in multiple accidents, leading the police to close the northbound lane for approximately three hours.

Upon receiving reports of a truck “spilling an unknown substance” around 10:30 p.m., Connecticut police arrived at the scene to find the road covered in fecal matter, creating slippery conditions that caused several crashes.

After the waste spillage, a Toyota Avalon lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier, followed by a Honda Civic colliding with two concrete barriers before sliding across the northbound lanes. Another collision occurred between another Honda Civic and a Honda CR-V shortly after. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in any of these incidents.

At around 11 p.m., a motorcyclist also lost control of his bike and fell due to the slippery road. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to a Bridgeport Hospital but was later released.

The most severe accident took place at 11:41 p.m. involving a truck and two state police cruisers. The Connecticut troopers had parked their cruisers in the median with their emergency lights on to warn drivers of an accident and assist those involved. While doing so, a Freightliner tractor-trailer jackknifed, hitting the driver’s side of another semi-truck. As a result, it slid into the median and collided with one of the state police cruisers, pushing it forward and striking the other parked cruiser in front of it.

The driver of the leaking truck was apprehended by the police after being contacted by his employer and instructed to pull over. The 34-year-old man from Waterbury, Connecticut, was driving a 2017 Mack truck that was still leaking when he was found. He was arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving with an unsecured load, and a dozen counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. He was later released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 8.
