These 5 SUVs Under Rs 20 Lakh Get A Fully Digital Driver’s Display

These types of digital instrument clusters were once only available in luxury cars not long ago, but they have now become more accessible

It is common for technology that premieres in luxury vehicles to eventually filter down to mass-market models, and one recent feature following that trend is the highly capable digital driver’s display. This screen in the instrument cluster provides a comprehensive setup, showing multiple parameters and vehicle information using infographics, sometimes with visuals that can be personalized. In this article, we’ve put together a list of 5 internal combustion engine (ICE) powered SUVs, all priced under Rs 20 lakh, that offer a fully digital driver’s display.

Disclaimer: We have only chosen SUVs that exclusively feature fully digital instrument clusters, providing a complete display setup, and not semi-digital setups (like the Renault Kiger) or digitised clusters (like the Hyundai Venue).

Tata Nexon

Variant: Fearless Onwards

The Tata Nexon has recently undergone a significant makeover in both design and features. One of the key upgrades in the facelifted Nexon is the introduction of the 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, available with the top-spec Fearless variant of the sub-4m SUV. This cluster can be synchronized with the infotainment screen, allowing the driver to view the map directly on the cluster using either Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Other features onboard the Tata Nexon include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, auto AC, wireless phone charging, ventilated and height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system. Safety is taken care of by 6 airbags (as standard), ABS with EBD, hill assist, electronic stability program (ESP), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a 360-degree camera.

The Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq pair of compact SUVs come equipped with an 8-inch fully digital driver’s display in their respective top-spec variants, available with both 1-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options. Essentially twins with different looks, we’re counting them as a combined single entity.

The safety in both SUVs is taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a rear-view camera.

Yamaha Updates YZF-R125 And YZF-R15 Sportbikes in Japan

Yamaha has introduced the 2023 YZF-R125 and YZF-R15 sportbikes in Japan, targeting beginner riders in license-restricted countries. These pint-sized motorcycles are designed for the moped class 2 and light motorcycle classes, drawing inspiration from their larger counterparts, the YZF-R7 and YZF-R1.

Unlike other affordable and accessible sportbikes in the beginner segment, Yamaha differentiates itself with the YZF-R15 and YZF-R125 through their impressive features. Both models come equipped with an assist and slipper clutch, enhancing control during downshifting and ensuring smoother riding. They also boast a traction control system, offering greater confidence to beginner riders in various weather conditions.

On the technology front, Yamaha equips these beginner-friendly bikes with impressive features. The sportbikes ride on 17-inch wheels and feature inverted front forks and a rear monoshock with a premium aluminum swingarm for excellent running gear.

When it comes to performance, the YZF-R125 and YZF-R15 are not designed as powerful machines. They are equipped with a 125cc and 155cc single-cylinder engine, respectively. However, both models feature liquid cooling, fuel injection, and Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. This system optimizes valve timing for fuel efficiency and low-end torque while providing adequate power at higher RPMs. The power is transferred to the rear wheel through a six-speed manual transmission with a slipper clutch. Additionally, there is an optional quick-shifter available for even more exciting performance.

The Yamaha YZF-R125 and YZF-R15 will be available in Japan starting October 16, 2023. The YZF-R125 is priced at 517,000 Yen ($3,502 USD), while the YZF-R15 carries a price tag of 550,000 Yen ($3,725 USD).

Bugatti Bolide Without Body Panels Is Peak Automotive Nudity

Bugatti wants you to know that the Bolide is more than just a track-limited version of the Chiron. The talented engineers at Molsheim have developed a new carbon fiber monocoque for the Bolide, which is not only stiffer and stronger but also compliant with LMH and LMDh regulations for endurance race cars. The track-only Bolide had to undergo additional changes to meet crash test requirements that differ from those of the road-legal model.

New images of the Bolide reveal the car without its body panels, exposing the monocoque. It looks rugged and resembles a vehicle straight out of a Mad Max movie. Impressively, the monocoque passed a test conducted by the FIA, where a load of 16,534 pounds (7.5 metric tons) was applied to the A-pillar without exceeding a deflection of 1.97 inches (50 millimeters) at the load point. Furthermore, the structure around a 3.93-inch (100-mm) radius of that point also had to withstand the heavy load.
