Check Out The Feature-Loaded Hyundai Exter SX CNG Variant In 6 Pics

The Hyundai Exter offers the CNG option in two variants – S and SX

Hyundai Exter SX CNG

The Hyundai Exter is now available with introductory prices ranging from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s a micro SUV based on the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. The Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with the option of CNG, which claims a fuel economy of up to 27.1 km/kg.

A post shared by CarDekho India (@cardekhoindia)

The Exter is available in five variants – E, S, SX, SX(O), and SX (O) Connect. The CNG powertrain option, with the 5-speed manual transmission only, is offered on the S and SX variant. We have exclusive images of the SX CNG variant in Khaki Green with the dual-tone black roof and you can check out the details:

Exter SX Exterior

Hyundai Exter SX CNG

The front profile of the Exter SX CNG variant looks identical to the top-end SX (O) Connect variant. This variant gets projector headlamps, H-shaped LED DRLs, and the chunky skid plate.

Hyundai Exter SX CNG

The side profile carries a big difference in the form of wheel design. The SX CNG variant sports 15-inch styled steel wheels, which give the impression of alloy wheels. The higher-end variants get proper dual-tone alloys but still only 15 inches in size.

The rear profile looks largely the same as the top-end variant, save for the rear spoiler that is body-colored on the SX instead of black as seen on the SX(O). It still gets H-shaped LED tail lights connected by a gloss black strip and beefy skid plates. You can spot the ‘CNG’ sticker as the differentiator from the petrol version.

Unfortunately, we did not get to see the boot of the Exter CNG in this batch of images.

Exter SX Interior

Moving inside the cabin, the differences between the Exter’s SX and SX (O) Connect variants are subtle. It’s covered in an all-black theme with silver accents but misses out on brushed silver finish for the door handles, leather covering for the steering wheel, and footwell lighting.

In terms of features, the SX variant does not offer niceties such as cruise control, push-button start-stop, wireless phone charger, cooled glove box, and rear wiper washer. However, it’s still equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen system, electric sunroof, automatic AC, and a digitized instrument cluster. Safety is covered by the presence of six airbags, a rear camera, ESC, hill hold assist, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

The Hyundai Exter rivals the likes of Tata Punch, Maruti Ignis, and Citroen C3, while indirectly being a competitor to some variants of Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and the Maruti Fronx.

Brabus Mercedes-AMG C63 With 600 HP Roars on the Autobahn

Brabus, a renowned tuner of Mercedes vehicles, has showcased its expertise in a new Autobahn video. The spotlight is on the 2015 AMG C63 with Brabus upgrades, which comes incredibly close to reaching its top speed.

The stock version of the 2015 AMG C63 S is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 500 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. Although this is plenty of power for most drivers, Brabus takes it up a notch with an upgrade that pumps out 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, transmitted to the rear wheels.

In the video, the C63 attempts to hit its top speed of 184 mph, but traffic conditions hamper its efforts. Nevertheless, the C63 manages an impressive speed of around 177 mph (285 kph), a testament to its performance capabilities.

Brabus offers a range of additional upgrades to complement its tunes. These include options to swap out the exhaust, install new wheels, add adjustable springs, and enhance the exterior with carbon-fiber accents. The tuner caters to various models and customer preferences, allowing for customization of horsepower levels.

In addition to its Mercedes upgrades, Brabus has diversified its offerings with a unique bundle, priced at $1.51 million. This bundle includes a Brabus 800-tuned G63 with 789 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, a boat with 900 hp, and a matching watch. The Brabus Shadow 900 Stealth Green Signature Edition sports boat is equipped with two 4.6-liter V8 Mercury Marine 450R engines, enabling it to reach speeds of over 69 mph (60 knots).

Another recent introduction from Brabus is the AMG GT63 S E Performance upgrade, which brings an extraordinary level of power. This plug-in hybrid boasts a combined output of 930 hp and 1,143 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to achieve a blistering acceleration of 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds. Although the 2015 AMG C63 is slightly slower, requiring 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph, it still delivers impressive performance.

2023 Toyota Crown Receives Modifications from Tuner Including Quad Exhaust and Rear Wing

The world of Japanese tuning is expansive, and it’s not uncommon for Toyota to offer Gazoo Racing appearance packages for cars like the Prius and some minivans straight from the factory. Therefore, it’s no surprise that a domestic tuner has taken on the task of modifying the new Crown. Tom’s has customized the vehicle, starting by lowering the suspension to bring it closer to the ground.

This modification significantly changes the appearance of the car and aligns it more closely with the Crown Sedan that Toyota plans to release later this year in Japan. In addition to the suspension adjustment, Tom’s has added a substantial front spoiler lip, chunkier side skirts, and a sporty diffuser. However, the rear of the vehicle raises some questions. The quad exhaust tips and large wing may seem excessive.

8 Best 50-55 Inch OLED TVs On The Market Right Now

The LG C2, despite being succeeded by the C3, is still considered the better option. While the C3 offers slightly higher brightness and a newer interface, it is significantly more expensive, priced at $1,899. On the other hand, the C2 can often be found at a discount of around $600, making it a more affordable choice. Both models use the same panel, so there are no hardware upgrades with the newer version. The C2 delivers top-tier image quality, 120Hz VRR, and LG’s Game Optimizer, all packaged in a minimalist design suitable for any space.

The LG C2 features the α9 Gen 5 processor, which enhances the sharpness of lower-resolution content with 4K upscaling. It also supports Dolby Atmos for a more immersive sound experience. LG’s proprietary smart TV OS offers seamless integration with various streaming platforms, including Apple TV, Disney+, Netflix, and Hulu. There are few drawbacks to the C2, especially considering its current discounted price. As of now, you can find it on Amazon for just under $1,299.

Here’s How Much A Fully Loaded Toyota Grand Highlander Costs

The Grand Highlander offers more space than the regular Highlander while being way more affordable than the larger Sequoia. The regular Toyota Highlander is an excellent SUV, but has always been criticized for its cramped third row. The Grand is almost a completely different SUV built on the same platform, offering more space, refinement, and high-end features.

The Grand is 6.5 inches longer than the standard Highlander with a 4.0-inch longer wheelbase, 5.5 inches of increased legroom, two inches of shoulder room, and an inch of headroom. The additional space is packed with modern technology and comfort to make it more appealing to large families, but there are some excellent options out there.

The Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX Platinum is the highest trim of the model, which comes with a whole load of extra features plus options. This is saying a lot, since the Grand Highlander comes standard with a bunch of nifty features. Toyota’s build page is live and we looked at how much the highest trim with all the best options will cost you.

The Grand Highlander

The only engine option for the Hybrid MAX Platinum is the 2.4-turbo four-cylinder paired with a hybrid system to produce a combined total of 362 horsepower and 400 pound feet of torque. This makes it one of the most powerful mid-size SUVs ever made by Toyota. The only available transmission is a 6-Speed automatic with AWD as standard.

The Hybrid MAX Platinum has the most limited mileage of all three variants at 27 MPG, while the hybrid 2.5 powertrain is the efficiency leader at a whopping 38 MPG, according to Toyota. The Hybrid MAX Platinum is the variant with the maximum towing capacity of 5000, with the lower variants being limited to 3500 pounds.

The next option you get to pick is the color, the Grand comes with seven colors to pick from, Celestial Silver, Midnight Black, Coastal Cream, Storm Cloud, and Blueprint with two of the colors – Ruby Flare Pearl and the Wind Chill Pearl costing $425 more.

We chose the Wind Chill Pearl. The Hybrid MAX Platinum also gives you the interior trim option of a gorgeous brown Portobello Leather and Ultrasuede. The other two interior options are standard for all the other variants, Black Leather with Ultrasuede and Light Grey with Ultrasuede. The Hybrid MAX Platinum does not get the option for the bench seats in the back.

The Hybrid MAX Platinum trim comes with heated and ventilated seats in the second row in addition to the front row. It also comes with panoramic glass moon roof as standard. Other features which distinguish this trim are a high definition HUD display, 360-degree camera view, digital rearview mirror, paddle shifters, and puddle lamps. The SUV also features Traffic Jam Assist (which requires a Drive Connect subscription or trial).

Hybrid MAX Platinum Comes With A Base MSRP Of $58,125

The interiors of the Grand Highlander are the most spacious in its class, with all the modern creature comforts and room to fit fully grown seven or eight adults, based on if you have selected the option for second-row captain seats.

All preliminary reviews coming in about the Grand seem to confirm that the third row is not just for children, but can actually fit 8 full-grown adults quite comfortably. The Grand offers 33.5 inches of legroom in the third row, which is the same as the Sequoia and considerably more than some of its competitors like the Honda Pilot (31.9 inches) and the Mazda CX-90 (30.4 inches).

With the second and third-row seats folded, the Grand Highlander offers up to 97.5 cubic feet of space, which is also the most when compared to its competitors. Clearly, Toyota had large families in mind when they designed this SUV, and it shows. The interior is filled with seven USB charging points along with two 120V outlets – one in the second row and one in the boot area, three zone climate control with separate climate control for the second row, and a bevy of storage space options for cups and smart devices.

All trims also come standard with second-row retractable window sunshades. You also have the option for a panoramic sunroof for all three trims. The driver gets a ten-way adjustable seat, access to a 12.3 touch screen and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Both the front seats across all trims get heated and ventilated seats, with the same options available for the second row on higher trims. Another new feature offered is the power tailgate, which can be operated with a foot sensor below the rear fender as long as the key fob is in your pocket.

There are 13 interior accessories which can be added to improve your Highlander MAX Hybrid Platinum. For an additional $499 Toyota has an Integrated Dashcam which captures video, images, sound, and location data. It records upon ignition or on impact when parked or while in motion. We also added the All-Weather Floor Liners, which added $228 to the cost, the alternate to this are Carpet Floor Mats which also cost $228.

There is also the option for a Cargo Net-Envelope for $75, which is used to secure luggage to the cargo area. Additionally, customers can opt for Illuminated Cargo and Door Sills for 345 each, which are made from brushed metal to protect these areas from scuffing and also look cool.

Some more optional extras include a Logo Side Puddle Lamp is available for $175, Universal Tablet Holder for $99, Quick Charger Cable Package for $70, First Aid Kit for $25, Cup Coin Holder/Ashtray for $29, and Key Glove for $20. All of these additional options and delivery, with processing and handling costs of $1,335 bring the cost of the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX Platinum to $61,870. This is a competitive price in this category, with other contenders like the Mazda CX-90 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee L also priced at the $60,000 mark.

The Grand Highlander 2024 is going to be hitting dealerships in July and looks to be a strong contender in the mid-size SUV space. It looks like Toyota is prepared to arrive strong with an excellent, feature rich premium SUV which is a great alternative to the regular Highlander. The regular Highlander will also still be available, for families looking for lesser space at a more practical price point.

Hyundai Verna vs Honda City vs Volkswagen Virtus vs Skoda Slavia: Space & Practicality Comparison

All four models have some benefits of their own, but let’s find out which one offers the better combination of space, practicality and comfort to its passengers

Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia

Hyundai launched the sixth-generation Verna earlier this year and with the launch of the new Verna, we thought we should compare it to all its key rivals: the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

While ZigWheels, our partner website, has done a ride and handling comparison of these four sedans, we have taken the approach of comparing the space, comfort and practicality that each of these models offer. To know which one gets the heart racing the most, check out the story on ZigWheels

Looks

Volkswagen Virtus

When it comes to looks and road presence, all models have a defining style of their own. The Virtus brings a sporty look to the segment with its sleek and timeless design. The sleek headlights and the thin grille complimented by the muscular rear give the Virtus an eye-catching road presence.

Skoda Slavia

The Slavia, though a platform twin to the Virtus, has a completely different appeal. With the signature Skoda grille and bonnet design, the Slavia has a more upright and rugged road presence than the others.

Hyundai Verna

The Verna’s design language is an acquired taste, due to the new fascia, especially the spanning LED DRLs, which might be something you don’t agree with but it will surely grow on you. That said, the sleek cuts on its side and the rear profile look great and the Hyundai sedan gets an overall sporty road presence like the Virtus.

Honda City

Lastly, the Honda City with its slightly tweaked design comes with a much simpler overall look. It’s not too sporty nor too elegant but sits somewhere in between, and manages to show a more premium overall road presence.

Dimension-wise, the Hyundai Verna is not the biggest in the segment but it is the widest, has the longest wheelbase and is bigger in all dimensions than its previous generation. Overall, though, the Honda City is the longest of all and Virtus and Slavia hold the mantle for height.

Interiors

Hyundai Verna Front Seats

Hyundai Verna: The new-gen Verna offers a low height for the driver seat, for a sporty driving position. These seats are long, comfortable but a bit narrow which will be felt by drivers with a larger frame. And to top it all off, the Verna is the only one in this segment which offers a power-adjustable driver seat (slide and recline), which adds to its convenience.

The cabin gives a sporty feel with average quality plastics and a minimalistic design. But even with the low driving position, you will get good visibility while driving.

Honda City Front Seats

Honda City: The City offers a higher driving position than the Verna, and it is easier to find your perfect driving position due to a longer range for adjustment. The seats here are the most comfortable, softest and the widest of all four, but are not as supportive as the Verna.

When it comes to the feel of the cabin, the City sets a benchmark. It offers premium quality plastics, high quality materials, an airy cabin and an overall elegant feel. And since the seats are positioned a little higher than the Verna, it also offers better visibility.

Volkswagen Virtus Front Seats

Volkswagen Virtus: While the Virtus has a sporty cabin feel, it is not as sporty as the Verna. You get a low driving position similar to the Verna and it’s easy to find your preferred driving position. With the Virtus, you get firm cushioning for the front seats which is better for long drives, these seats are the most comfortable of all but are a little narrow.

The cabin feels simple and driver-focused but the quality of plastics and materials used in the Virtus are not as good as on the Verna or City. And due to the higher position of the dashboard and the low position of the seating, the visibility is not as good as the Verna or the City either.

Skoda Slavia Front Seats

Skoda Slavia: The Slavia gets the same seat position and comfort as the Virtus and the visibility is similar to the Volkswagen sedan as well. Here, unlike the Virtus, you get a more sophisticated cabin with light upholstery which makes it a little more airy.

But while the quality of materials is the same as the Virtus, some elements like the rattling bronze element on the dashboard and on the AC vents make the Slavia feel a little behind compared to the rest of the models in this comparison.

Features

Common Features: All four compact sedans are equipped with features like tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, leatherette upholstery, digital driver’s display, sunroof, automatic climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These features go on to prove that compact sedans are not just spacious cars as they used to be, but they are now also well-equipped with features and even give strong competition to the compact SUV segment.

Hyundai Verna Cabin

Hyundai Verna: In a segment first, you get switchable controls for the climate control and infotainment which are easy and intuitive to use. Also, they remove a clutter of buttons to make the layout look simpler, but we still prefer having separate controls for audio — which are now a dying breed.

Hyundai Verna Powered Driver Seat With Manual Height Adjust

Other features include other segment firsts like powered driver seat, hinglish voice commands, heated and ventilated seats and ambient lighting for both the dashboard and doors. But the Hyundai sedan gets some silly misses as well. It gets powered driver seats but height adjustment is still manual, the top-spec variants with the bigger 10.25-inch display do not get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (which is there on the lower variants), and there are not many customisation options for the digital driver’s display.

With all of these features, the Verna has the most balanced feature ist in the segment.

Honda City Cabin

Honda City: The Honda City gets a lot of features from the base variant like an 8-inch touchscreen information display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, steering adjustment, automatic climate control, driver seat height adjustment and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). These features might not be on par with the other models but are enough to give the Honda City a premium cabin feel.

Honda City Wireless Phone Charger & Cupholders

Honda also offers ADAS features from the second-to-base variants, it gets a partially digital driver’s display with a good execution and all windows get one touch up and down function for ease of use. The City misses out on USB ports for the rear seat passengers and instead, you get two 12V charging ports which is something that takes you back a couple of years, it does not get ventilated seats and the placement of the wireless phone charger is not well thought out in the non-hybrid variants, so you can either use the wireless charger or the cupholders, not both at the same time.

The Honda City, while not as well equipped as the other models in the segment, takes a step ahead of its competitors in terms of safety.

Skoda Slavia/ Volkswagen Virtus: Both these sedans get a similar feature list. They come with a big digital driver’s display with loads of customisation options that allow you to see a lot of information in one place. They both have seat height adjustment for both the driver and front passenger and 60:40 folding rear seats which are not offered on the other models in the segment. Also, there is a good spring action for their boot for ease of use and this boot opens up automatically if you accidentally leave the keys inside while placing luggage.

Skoda Slavia Rear Drum Brakes

While all these features are very good, there are some that are not: the video quality on the rear parking camera is subpar on both that should have been better for the price of the car, and with a powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, rear disc brakes could have been a nice addition.

Both the Vitrus and Slavia get a good set of features. While there are some that could have been implemented in a better way, the overall feature-rich cabin makes up for the misses. Even in terms of safety, both models do not offer ADAS features, but their 5-star Global NCAP ratings make them the safety offerings in the segment.

Rear Seats

Moving on from the front seats, let’s see what these sedans offer for the rear seats passengers and find out which one offers the most space for three passengers in the back.

Hyundai Verna Rear Seats

Hyundai Verna: The Verna has the most comfortable rear seat in the segment. The backrest is at a good angle but you don’t get a head rest for the middle passenger. In the Verna, you get good headroom, kneeroom, footroom and underthigh support for three passengers, and adults up to six feet tall will sit easily.

Honda City Rear Seats

Honda City: The City’s rear seats are less comfortable than the Verna. Here, you get flat seats, which are good as you can stretch, but you end up sitting more upright which is less comfortable for long journeys. The City offers good space for three passengers, while there is less headroom, knee room and underthigh support than the Verna. But it does offer good footroom and shoulder room, so you don’t feel cramped.

Volkswagen Virtus/ Skoda Slavia: Here you get supportive seats that are at an upright angle. The Virtus offers a headrest of the middle passenger but the rear seats and the headrests protrude outwards a little. For three passengers, it offers good knee room, foot room and good underthigh support, but its headroom and shoulder room is less than that of the Verna.

Boot Space

When talking about space, how can we not mention boot space? All these sedans come with enough boot space to carry your luggage for a long trip. But the question is, which one is most practical.

Boot Space

Hyundai Verna

Volkswagen Virtus/ Skoda Slavia

Honda City

528 litres

521 litres

506 litres

Hyundai Verna Boot Space

On paper, the Verna has the biggest boot space of all. But when it comes to stuffing your luggage, you’ll notice the subwoofer on the roof of the boot does not allow you to stack two hard bags. But since it is a lot deeper than the others, there is still a lot of space left in front even after stuffing five bags.

The Virtus and Slavia have the same boot space which is not much smaller than that of the Verna. But their roof is free of any obstruction so it becomes easier to place your luggage.

Honda City Boot Space

Lastly we have the City, which on paper has the least boot space here, but it is still enough to keep five bags easily and there is still some space left in the front and sides.

Practicality

All these models offer similar cabin storage in terms of practicality. You get bottle holders on all doors and cupholders in the centre console. There are centre armrests in all which make the drive comfortable. There is space under the front armrest and glove compartments are spacier enough for documents and other knick-knacks.

Honda City Front Seat Back Pocket

But there are some features unique to each model. While the City does not get USB charging ports in the back, the pockets behind the front seats have small dedicated places for your phone and documents. The Slavia also has a dedicated pocket to keep your phone, and the Verna has a popout cup holder in the centre console.

Price and Verdict

Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia

Price

Hyundai Verna

Honda City

Volkswagen Virtus

Skoda Slavia

Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 17.38 lakh

Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh

Rs 11.48 lakh to Rs 18.57 lakh

Rs 11.39 lakh to Rs 18.68 lakh

* All prices ex-showroom Delhi

As you can see from the table, the Verna is the most affordable. But these prices are introductory and will be increased in the coming months. However, for these prices, you are getting the most comfortable cabin and a good overall driving experience. The Honda City offers a much simpler experience but gets an airy cabin and the best quality materials, making it the safer choice and the Virtus-Slavia duo give you a choice of either a sporty (Virtus) or an butch (Slavia) experience.

See Naughty Bear Run For Freedom After Getting Stuck Inside SUV

Encounters between vehicles and wildlife seldom end well, but this video at least offers a happy ending for flesh and blood creatures. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the interior of this third-generation Toyota RAV4, in which a young black bear took up unintended residence for a few hours. And it wasn’t for a nap.

Recently shared on YouTube through ViralHog, the incident took place in rural Virginia on June 6. According to the video description, the vehicle owner headed out around 10:00 AM local time and, upon approach, noticed the airbags were deployed and the windshield was cracked. That’s when the bear was spotted inside, lunging towards the window. We imagine that was quite a horror-movie moment, but thanks to a Facebook post from Mindy Maine, we don’t need to imagine. In a word, yikes.

For reasons that should be plainly obvious, nobody went inside or even opened a door. Instead, authorities were notified and a conservation police officer showed up in about 90 minutes to help out. Rather smartly, a rope was tied to the door handle so it could be opened from the safety of another vehicle. After a few moments, the bear hopped out and scampered away, looking none the worse for wear. It’s unclear exactly how long the creature had been inside; comments on the video say the SUV had been unlocked and the bear entered at some point through the night.

The Facebook photos show the RAV4 essentially gutted on the inside. The dash was torn apart, headliner ripped down, seats shredded, all in addition to the smashed windshield and deployed airbags. Presumably, the bear had been in there for quite some time and was antsy to get away. Per the Facebook post, the vehicle was written off as a total loss by insurance.

Dealing With Bears

This certainly isn’t the first time we’ve seen bears inside vehicles. Lest we forget the brave woman using her authoritative mom voice to chase a bear out of a GMC Sierra Denali, but is that a smart way to deal with bears? We checked in with the state of Colorado, where bears are certainly plentiful.

The best defense is to keep bears out in the first place, which means always locking the doors. They’re smart enough to use door handles, and if there’s some tasty food inside, bears can smell it. Don’t keep food in the car, or if you’re camping, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) recommends storing it in bear-proof lockers well away from cars and tents.

If a bear is already on-site (or any dangerous, wild animal for that matter) it’s best to contact authorities first. If there’s an immediate threat, CPW advises people to not turn and run. Make loud noises, wave your arms, anything to make yourself look big and scary. Bears generally don’t consider humans as food sources, but a bag of chips inside an unlocked pickup truck is a midnight snack just waiting to happen.

As we move into the summer months, bears will be extremely active. Stay safe out there, everyone.
