2024 Aprilia RS 457 Preorders And Pricing Announced In North America

Back in early September 2023, Aprilia officially unveiled the newest RS on the block at the Misano MotoGP round in Italy. As is common in moto world, covert test mules, spy photos, and speculation had been swirling for months. Since the RS most previously introduced was called the RS 660, most people thought that this new machine might be called the RS 440.

Aprilia makes its own rules, though—so the RS 457 was born, and fans were intrigued. It’s powered by an A2-compliant 35 kilowatt (about 46.9 horsepower) parallel twin engine. Claimed curb weight is 175 kilograms, or just under 386 pounds.

Fast-forward to November 2023, and it’s EICMA time once again in moto world. While Aprilia did indeed bring the RS 457 to the festivities so that visitors could see it in person, it wasn’t a new model introduction. Instead, in the US and Canada, Piaggio Group Americas chose this time to officially announce colors, pricing, and availability for the newest member of the RS family.

Available 2024 Aprilia RS 457 Colors

For 2024, Aprilia will offer three color options for the RS 457: Racing Stripes, Prismatic Dark, and Opalescent Light.

Pricing and Availability

Aprilia sells its bikes in multiple markets, including the RS 457. As such, pricing and availability will vary by region. Preorders at American and Canadian Aprilia dealers are now open as of November 7, 2023.

In the US, the 2024 Aprilia RS 457 will carry an MSRP of $6,799 for the Prismatic Dark and Opalescent Light colorways. If you choose the Racing Stripes colorway instead, it’s just $100 more, at an MSRP of $6,899. These bikes should hit American showrooms in April 2024. Considering that the RS 660 currently starts at an MSRP of $11,499, that should make the RS 457 significantly more accessible for a wider variety of riders.

In Canada, the 2024 Aprilia RS 457 will carry an MSRP of $7,799 for the Prismatic Cark and Opalescent Light colorways. Opt for Racing Stripes instead, and the MSRP is $7,999. In the Canadian market, Aprilia dealerships should begin seeing the 2024 RS 457 arrive sometime in June 2024.

If you’re interested in the 2024 Aprilia RS 457, but you live in a region other than the US or Canada, your best bet for the most accurate information is to reach out to your local Aprilia dealer. They should be able to help you with any questions you may have about this or any other Aprilia that strikes your fancy.

Valentino Rossi Wins his First GT World Challenge Europe Race at Misano

Valentino Rossi, the nine-time motorcycle world champion, has claimed his first victory in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS (GTWC). The race took place at Misano, Italy, and was part of the Sprint Cup in this season’s championship. Rossi, racing alongside Maxime Martin, dominated the one-hour race and secured the win in scorching hot conditions. This victory marks Rossi’s biggest achievement in car racing so far. BMW M Team WRT, Rossi’s team, also celebrated a class win in the Gold Cup, as well as other podium finishes.

Rossi and Martin were elated after their win and were cheered on by their countless fans. This triumph on home soil is Rossi’s most significant success in automobile racing. While he had previously won his first race on four wheels at the ‘Road to Le Mans,’ winning against the best GT racing drivers in the world in GTWC Europe is an even greater accomplishment. Martin played a crucial role in the victory, especially since the last time a BMW race car won in the GTWC Sprint Cup was eight years ago with Martin and Dirk Müller driving a BMW Z4 GT3.

BMW M Team WRT had more reasons to celebrate as well. Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts showed an impressive performance, climbing from 21st on the grid to finish third in the Saturday race. They started from pole position on Sunday but faced setbacks during the pit stop, ultimately settling for ninth place. Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer and Thomas Neubauer finished third, joining Rossi and Martin on the podium. Niklas Krütten and Calan Williams secured the Gold Cup victory on Sunday.

After the race weekend, Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport, congratulated Rossi on his first GT World Challenge Europe victory and praised his development as a driver. Vincent Vosse, Team Principal of BMW M Team WRT, expressed his emotions and highlighted the significance of winning the race with Rossi at Misano. Rossi himself expressed his joy and gratitude, emphasizing the specialness of winning in this racing series at his home circuit. Maxime Martin also shared his excitement and mentioned the momentum they have as a team going into future races. Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts reflected on their performance, acknowledging the setbacks but remaining optimistic about their progress with the BMW M4 GT3.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport WorldSBK Riders Show Resilience in Challenging Misano Weekend

The BMW Motorrad WorldSBK riders showed their fighting spirit during a challenging weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Despite facing adversity, the team managed to deliver impressive results during the fifth round of the FIM Superbike World Championship 2023.

Yellow and red flags interrupted the Superpole qualification on Saturday, but Scott Redding managed to secure 12th place, with Gerloff in 14th, Sykes in 18th, and Baz in 19th. Unfortunately, Baz was later demoted three places for race one due to a penalty incurred during the third practice session. The best result for BMW in the first race on Saturday was delivered by Redding, who finished in 11th place.

In the Superpole race on Sunday morning, Gerloff moved up to ninth place, while Redding was in 11th place and Baz in 13th. Unfortunately, Sykes took a tumble, but he managed to finish the race in 20th place.

During the second main race, Gerloff recorded his best result of the season by finishing in eighth place. Baz started from the back of the field, battled his way up to 12th place, and Sykes crossed the finish line in 13th position. Redding made a great start, moving up from 13th to ninth, but struggled during the race and finished in 14th position.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director, Marc Bongers, praised the team’s fighting spirit, but acknowledged that there’s still work to be done. The sixth round of the season in the WorldSBK 2023 will take place from 30th June to 2nd July at Donington Park (GBR).

The BMW riders shared their reactions to the race in Misano:

  • Garrett Gerloff, Bonovo action BMW Racing Team, was reasonably happy with his eighth-place finish and is motivated for the next races at Donington.
  • Scott Redding, ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, acknowledged that the weekend was quite difficult, and the team will keep working to find a solution.
  • Loris Baz, Bonovo action BMW Racing Team, expressed his disappointment with the bike’s issues but praised the team’s mechanics for fixing it in time for the race. He hopes that their bad luck is finally over.
  • Tom Sykes, ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, acknowledged the difficulty in finding a base setting during a race weekend but appreciated the team’s hard work in gathering information to move forward.
