Adam Opel established his namesake firm in Rüsselsheim, Germany, simply 30 miles southwest of Frankfurt. Founded in 1862 to make stitching machines, Opel branched into bicycle manufacturing in 1886 after securing a bit of the German market.

In 1899, Opel’s son, Wilhelm, purchased Friedrich Lutzmann’s Motorwagenfabrik (motor automotive manufacturing unit) and began constructing automobiles underneath the Opel identify. By 1907, Opel was making stitching machines and automobiles alongside one another in its manufacturing unit. However, a hearth burned down the manufacturing unit in 1911, inflicting the corporate to cease operations. When it resumed manufacturing, Opel determined to cease making stitching machines and targeted all its efforts on vehicles.

By 1928, Opel was the biggest German automaker, with 37.5% of the native market share, in response to Detroit Free Press. However, the Great Depression in 1929 hit Opel onerous, and General Motors ended up buying 80% of the corporate for underneath $26 million (about $472 million in the present day). Adam Driver, a former Marine and now an Academy-Award-nominated actor, had a blunt response to a question about the crash scenes in the movie Ferrari at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland.

When an audience member asked Driver what he thought about the crash scenes, calling them harsh, drastic, and cheesy, Driver responded with a curt “Fuck you. I don’t know. Next question.”

The question may have seemed inappropriate considering Driver’s role as an actor in the film, not part of the special effects crew.

Driver stars as Il Commendatore in the new Ferrari biopic directed by Michael Mann, with the film having premiered at the Venice Film Festival. A press tour has taken the movie and select cast/crew members to festivals around the world, including a recent stop in Poland. The public premiere in the United States is scheduled for December 25.

Ferrari revolves around the automaker’s competition in the 1957 Mille Miglia and the personal struggles of Enzo Ferrari. The trailer shows wheel-to-wheel racing action against a Maserati, as well as Enzo managing his relationship with his wife while having a mistress.

The story behind the 1957 Mille Miglia is expected to be captivating on the big screen, as it marked a tragedy and triumph for the automaker, involving fatalities of a Ferrari driver and spectators, ultimately leading to the end of the Mille Miglia as a competitive challenge for new vehicles.

Meta Threads Launches Android Beta Program: Here’s How To Join

Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, has announced that several new features are in the works for the Threads app. One of the upcoming features is the ability to edit messages, and Mosseri suggests that this feature may be available for free. In contrast, Twitter requires a subscription for its users to edit tweets.

The most requested feature for Threads is a chronological feed, where users can see posts only from accounts they follow instead of an algorithmically-curated feed. Mosseri confirms that work on this feature will continue over the next few weeks, indicating that it may be offered as an optional format.

Additionally, efforts are being made to introduce hashtags for Threads. Furthermore, users may soon have the ability to switch between two different Threads profiles, similar to how they can toggle between multiple Instagram accounts on the mobile app.

While Threads currently serves as a view-only platform on the web, plans are in place to develop a desktop version as well. Other features under consideration by Mosseri include a dedicated search system, an automatic translation tool, and enhanced privacy controls for comments.
