Honda Introduces 2024 CRF250R Cup in the UK

Honda is expanding its off-road racing program in the UK with the Honda CRF250R. Following the success of the CRF150R Cup for young riders in the European championship, the CRF250R Cup will now cater to adult riders in the amateur and clubmen ranks.

Four brand new bikes will be awarded to the winners of the 2024 racing series. The CRF250R Cup will be divided into two series. One series, called the “Fastest 40 British Motocross Championship,” will be a part of the MX Nationals series and will feature clubmen riders. The other series will be organized by the AMCA as part of the UK championships. Racers can choose which series they want to participate in as long as their race bike, a Honda CRF250R from the 2021 model-year onwards, was supplied by a Honda UK dealer.

In an official press release, Honda UK Off Road Sales Manager Graham Foster-Vigors stated, “Honda UK has set up this initiative to give Honda riders the chance to progress under the wing of a manufacturer, whether they are stepping up from junior ranks or looking for extra competitive quality racing within existing national championships.”

At the end of the 2024 racing season, each series will award the winner with a brand new Honda CRF250R. Additionally, each series will select another winner of a CRF250R known as the “Power of Dreams Award.” A panel of experts will judge the winner based on their skill level, determination, sportsmanship, and social media presence.

To participate in the 2024 Honda CRF250R Cup, riders must qualify through their regular AMCA regional race events, considering the abundance of Honda CRF250Rs in the UK motocross racing scene. The scoring system takes into account the racers’ performance in their respective race classes and awards separate points. Depending on the region, five or six racers will be invited to participate in the CRF250R Cup class.

At the end of each round, the best rider, as determined by a panel of judges, will receive a Fly Helmet to use for the remainder of the season. It is worth noting that while any 2021 and newer CRF250R is eligible to participate, buyers of new models from official Honda UK dealers will receive a free Race Pack, including a Fly Racing kit, holeshot device, and care package from Motul. In addition, the bike comes with a free off-road training day from Fly Racing, featuring instruction from British MX1 Champion Conrad Mewse and three-time World 500 Champion Dave Thorpe.
