5-Door Suzuki Jimny Coming to Australia

The 3-door version of the Suzuki Jimny is already available in Australia

Maruti Jimny

  • The launch date and specifications for the 5-door Suzuki Jimny in Australia have not been revealed yet.

  • The 3-door version of the Jimny is already on sale in Australia. It is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and four-wheel drive (4WD).

  • It is expected that the 5-door Jimny in Australia will have similar features to the off-roader version in India.

  • The 3-door Jimny in Australia also has advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features.

The 3-door Suzuki Jimny was not available in India, but now a 5-door version called the Maruti Jimny has been introduced. With additional doors, a larger boot, and updated features, the longer Jimny is going global and will soon be available in Australia as well. Although Suzuki has yet to release details about its specifications and features, here’s what we can anticipate.

What to Expect

Maruti Jimny

The Australian-spec 5-door Jimny is likely to have the same powertrain as the India-spec 5-door Jimny, with no changes expected under the hood. It will use a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, and come with 4-wheel drive (4WD) as standard. Compared to the 3-door Jimny in Australia, the India-spec Jimny offers slightly better performance with 105PS and 134Nm of power, which is 3PS and 4Nm more.

Expected Features

Five-door Maruti Jimny Cabin

The Maruti Jimny comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and automatic climate control. In terms of safety, it is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESP), and a rearview camera. It is expected that the 5-door Suzuki Jimny for the Australian market will have a similar set of features.

However, the Australian-spec 3-door Jimny goes further in terms of safety features by including advanced driver assistance system features such as lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and high beam assist, which are not available in Maruti Suzuki models in India.

It is also worth noting that the base-spec 3-door Jimny in Australia does not come with a touchscreen unit, while the top-spec version has a smaller 7-inch touchscreen system, similar to the base-spec Jimny in India.

Jimny Rivals

In India, the Maruti Jimny competes with the Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar. In Australia, there is no direct rival for the 3-door or 5-door Jimny, but other SUVs of similar size and price are available. The price of the Jimny in India ranges from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom pan India), while the 3-door Jimny in Australia costs up to AUD 33,500, which is approximately Rs 18.28 lakh.

5 Much Needed Updates We’ll Finally See On The Facelifted Kia Seltos

The updated version of the Kia Seltos compact SUV for India will debut in India on July 4

Facelifted Kia Seltos Front

The launch of the facelifted Kia Seltos is approaching, as the compact SUV is finally receiving its biggest update in four years. Its exterior styling was recently leaked, and we also got a glimpse of its interior through some spy shots.

When the Seltos debuted the Kia brand in India in 2019, it was one of the most feature-rich compact SUVs in its segment. However, over the years, the competition has caught up and surpassed it in some areas. To regain its status as a standout SUV, the Seltos is finally getting five much-needed upgrades in the form of a facelift:

Panoramic Sunroof

The facelifted version is finally getting a panoramic sunroof, a feature that is seen in most of its rivals. The Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, and Toyota Hyryder, all offer this feature. The addition of a panoramic sunroof will enhance the premium and airy appeal of the cabin.

ADAS for Safety

The updated Seltos will come equipped with more advanced technology and increased safety with the presence of ADAS features. The radar-based safety technology will take care of the SUV’s active safety, including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance assist, and blind-spot monitoring. While this won’t make it the first in the segment to offer these features, it will put it ahead of some key competitors.

A Digital Instrument Cluster

Unlike the outgoing Seltos that uses a twin-pod analogue console, the facelifted version will feature a digital driver’s display. It will be part of the dual integrated 10.25-inch displays, which will house the instrument panel and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Facelifted Kia Seltos Cabin

A Redesigned Cabin

Although feature-laden, the cabin of the Seltos was starting to become outdated in terms of design. The updated Seltos will come with a redesigned interior featuring a new dashboard layout, refreshed AC vents, a more premium climate control panel, and even a new seat upholstery design. This will once again make the Seltos a standout and one of the most modern offerings in its segment.

It will also receive minor cosmetic tweaks to the exterior design to give it a sharp and fresh look while still being recognizable as a Kia Seltos.

Performance Upgrade

Facelifted Kia Seltos Front

When it was launched, the Seltos was one of the most powerful compact SUVs with its 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. However, with the entry of the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, it lost that title. With the facelift, the Seltos will regain its title as it will be powered by the Carens’ 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Another standout feature will be the option for iMT (manual without a clutch pedal), along with the now commonplace 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic).

Would You Buy This Maruti Suzuki Jimny Rhino Edition?

The Rhino edition has been introduced in Malaysia with the SUV’s three-door version, limited to just 30 units

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Rhino

  • The Maruti Jimny Rhino edition only receives visual changes and there are no alterations to the features or powertrain.

  • Highlights of the Rhino edition include a vintage mesh grille, more cladding, decals, and the ‘Rhino’ badging.

  • The all-black interior remains unchanged, except for more premium foot mats.

  • It is equipped with the same 1.5-liter petrol engine with 4WD as the India-spec model.

  • The launch of the Maruti Jimny in India is expected in the future, with the possibility of other limited editions.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is available as a three-door model in various international markets. It is particularly popular in Malaysia, where it has received a stylish Jimny Rhino Edition. While the changes are purely cosmetic, its unique appearance is quite appealing. The ‘Rhino’ name is associated with Suzuki’s off-roading club, which consists of Jimnys and older Grand Vitaras.

Exterior Design Changes

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Rhino

The Jimny Rhino features an old-school grille with ‘Suzuki’ lettering instead of the logo. The mesh grille is surrounded by a dark chrome panel that also houses the round headlights. The front bumper has been slightly modified with new sturdy cladding.

On the hood, there are exclusive decals that also run along the sides of the vehicle. The mudguards are red, and there is a large decal along the bottom half of the door. The side of the vehicle is equipped with additional claddings to enhance its off-roading capabilities.

The rear profile remains unchanged, except for the ‘Rhino’ logo on the boot and a similar covering for the spare wheel.

Few Interior Changes

The interior design remains unchanged, except for the addition of premium foot mats. It retains the same all-black theme without any upgraded features. While the Jimny in Malaysia is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen system, the India-spec five-door model comes with a more premium 9-inch unit that includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the top variant.

No Changes To The Powertrain

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Rhino

The Jimny in India and Malaysia is powered by the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 4×4 capability as standard. In India, buyers have the option of a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission, while the three-door version in Malaysia is only available with the latter.

While it is too early to say for certain, it is possible that we may see this Jimny Rhino Edition or similar limited editions in India in the future. The Rhino Edition is considered a collector’s version as only 30 units will receive this treatment. In order to make it more appealing, it is expected that there will be special editions for the five-door Jimny in the coming years. The current price range for the Jimny in India is between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 14.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Opel Rocks E-Xtreme: A Unique Electric Buggy Designed by a Student

In August 2021, Opel released the Opel Rocks-e, a micro electric vehicle designed for city use. It was essentially a rebranded version of the Citroen Ami and was touted as the world’s first Sustainable Urban Mobility EV. In less than a year, Opel expanded the Rocks-e lineup by introducing a cargo version of the vehicle. Now, they have unveiled another addition to the lineup, but this time it’s not a regular production model.

The Rocks e-Xtreme is a one-off prototype that will not be mass-produced. This unique concept was created by Opel, based on the design of Lukas Wenzhöfer, a design student who won the #OpelDesignHack contest. Opel had promised to bring the winner’s project to life, and they have truly lived up to their promise by turning this radical electric buggy into a reality.

Peugeot e-2008 GT 2023 first drive

The Peugeot e-2008 has received an updated version of the e-CMP platform with a bigger 54kWh lithium-ion battery. This increase in battery capacity has boosted the car’s WLTP range from 214 to 251 miles. The new battery system also brings improved efficiency, with official figures showing an efficiency of 5.0mpkWh, which is better than its rivals such as the MG ZS EV Long Range.

In terms of styling, the e-2008 now features a more aggressive and wider-looking front end with headlights and tail lights similar to those found on the Peugeot 508. Inside the car, higher-spec models offer new materials and a 10.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

It’s important to note that the 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine will still be available as an option in the Peugeot 2008 range, with the same style and interface updates.

While there haven’t been any changes to the suspension or steering, the e-2008 now comes with a more powerful 154bhp motor. Despite not being a performance-oriented vehicle, the e-2008 offers a pleasant mid-speed urgency and feels pokey enough for fast motorway merges. It also provides a comfortable and composed ride, even on 18-inch alloy wheels.

During acceleration from a standstill with a significant amount of lock applied, the front tyres may scrabble and squirm, causing the e-2008 to understeer when attempting sharp corners. However, overall, it performs well and offers a quiet and intuitive driving experience whether in urban environments or on scenic roads.

5 PC Cases That Are Over-the-Top and Unnecessary

Do you remember the episode of “Futurama” where they had a futuristic version of Madison Square Garden called “Madison Cube Garden”? It was a funny joke, but let’s be real – a cube propped up on one corner wouldn’t be very practical compared to a flat surface. Well, someone at AZZA didn’t seem to think about that when they created their own version of the Madison Cube Garden.

Introducing the AZZA Regis 902 – a PC case that is shaped like a cube, standing on one corner with a small stand at the bottom. The front of the case has an RGB infinity light that uses mirrors to create the illusion of an endless glowing abyss. The sides are fitted with glass panels, allowing you to see what’s inside the case. If the case was positioned on its side, it would be a perfectly normal (albeit flashy) case. But the decision to prop it up on one corner just leaves us scratching our heads in confusion.

Kia Seltos Facelift Spotted Uncovered; 5 Key Observations

The updated version of the compact SUV will be available for purchase in July

The facelifted Kia Seltos has been spotted without any camouflage for the first time. The compact SUV was introduced in 2019 and this will be its first major update since its launch. It is expected to be available for purchase in July. So, here are the five main things that we noticed in the facelifted version:

New Front Profile

Kia Seltos 2023

The new Seltos will feature a refreshed front profile, starting with a new and larger grille. It will have new LED headlights and sleeker daytime running lights (DRLs), integrated into the grille. The redesigned bumper appears busier and more aggressive. The fog lamps, styled like stacked ice cubes, have been retained but their housing has been redesigned along with the bumper.

No Changes To The Side Profile

Kia Seltos 2023

The side profile remains largely unchanged, except for some modifications to the door cladding. Surprisingly, the alloy wheels are the same as those seen on the X-Line variants. This particular model appears to be a higher-end variant, as indicated by the presence of chrome door handles.

More Stylish Rear Profile

Kia Seltos 2023

The changes to the rear profile are more significant compared to the front. The boot shape has been modified to give it a more aggressive appearance. The facelifted model will feature new LED tail lamps connected by a illuminated strip. The redesigned bumpers will now house the reverse lights as well. The dual faux exhausts are now more prominent than in the current version, contributing to the sportier look.

ADAS!

We already knew that it would be equipped with radar-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, and the latest spy shot confirms this. The vehicle seen in the picture is a production-ready model featuring a rectangular-shaped radar on the front bumper. It will be the second compact SUV to offer this safety feature, following the MG Astor. The ADAS suite is expected to include blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.

Refreshed Interior

Kia Seltos Gets A Facelift On Its Home Ground With A New Tiger Nose Grille

The spy shots only offer a glimpse of the interior. The facelifted model is expected to feature a refreshed interior design with a new layout similar to the international model. The global-spec model boasts a new dual-layer, all-black theme with new switches and dual-integrated 10.25-inch displays, including a digital driver’s display and touchscreen infotainment system.

In terms of powertrains, it is likely to continue with the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The discontinued 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be replaced by a new 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. All engine options will be available with an automatic transmission, as before.

Watch New Forza Motorsport Trailer, Game Releases On October 10

UPDATE: An earlier version of this story referred to the game as Forza Motorsport 7. This is incorrect. It is just Forza Motorsport.

The latest trailer for Forza Motorsport premiered during the Xbox Games Showcase during the 2023 Summer Games Fest. This new video focuses on the partnership with General Motors for highlighting the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and the Cadillac Racing V-Series.R LMDh racer for the new entry in the franchise. October 10, 2023, is the newly unveiled release date.

The Chevy and Cadillac will be the vehicles gracing the cover of Forza Motorsport. The video begins with the V-Series.R on the track competing with other race cars. Then, it quickly transitions to showing the E-Ray in the Home view where players can enter races and select different vehicles.

Next, there’s more racing with a circuit showing Eaglerock Speedway on the walls. The course appears to have an oval layout, which would work for stock car-style events.

The next course on display seems to be the Suzuka Circuit. Later, there’s a brief glimpse of what looks to be the famous Eau Rouge corner from the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. A short snippet also appears to show a bit from the Le Mans track.

This short trailer isn’t our last look at Forza Motorsport before the game’s launch. There will be a walkthrough of the single-player career campaign on June 13 (announcement below).

Forza Motorsport will launch with over 500 cars, and over 100 of them will be completely new to the game. Plus, developer Turn 10 Studios will pack the roster with more racing-specific machines than ever before. If that won’t provide enough to pick from, there will be over 800 upgrades available for vehicle customization.

Of course, these cars would be useless without a place to race. Forza Motorsport has 20 places to race, five of which are new to the series. An earlier clip revealed two of them: Hakone in Japan and the Kyalami circuit in South Africa.

The graphics should be better than ever, too. The developers promise the ability to play in a 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, and that’s with ray tracing to create even more realistic lighting effects. A new time-of-day function allows players to start a race during the day and have the event transition into the night. For better sound, the game supports Dolby Atmos, which adds a layer of height to the noise in addition to the usual left-to-right projection.

The new game will have additional driving assists to be more accessible to users. For example, Blind Driving Assists help blind players or those with low vision. It adds more audio cues to help users navigate tracks without needing to see everything. One Touch Driving aids folks who have issues with pressing multiple buttons simultaneously, gripping a controller, or maintaining button pressure.

The video below is from June 2022 and shows more of the gameplay.
