Honda Teases Electric Concepts Ahead Of 2023 Japan Mobility Show

The 2023 Japan Mobility Show will be held in Tokyo from October 28 to November 5, 2023. Honda has already announced the vehicles it will be showcasing at the event, grouped under the concept of Honda Dream Loop. While Honda acknowledges its nostalgic past, its focus for this show is centered on the future.

Among the concepts and near-production vehicles that Honda will feature at the show are electric motorcycles powered by the Honda Mobile Power Pack (HMPP) e: battery system. These include the EM1 e:, Benly e:, and Gyro e:. One of the highlights will be the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, a swappable battery system already being used by Honda to power their electric two-wheelers.

In addition to these motorcycles, Honda will also debut two more electric motorbike concepts at the show. One of them is the SC e: Concept, which bears similarities to the EM1 e: in terms of external design but is expected to have a higher top speed and greater range. It is speculated that this bike may use two HMPP e: battery packs, although no official details have been confirmed by Honda at this time.

Joining its electric Motocompacto in the line-up, Honda will present the Sustaina-C Concept and Pocket Concept at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. These electric vehicles aim to capture the spirit of the original Honda City and Motocompo that were introduced in the 1980s. The Sustaina-C Concept and Pocket Concept cater to urban lifestyles and short-distance travel needs.

Although the designs look appealing, it is important to remember that concept designs often differ from reality. Honda will also showcase other exciting projects at the show, including a new fuel cell module, robots, an autonomous work vehicle, a hands-free personal mobility device, and an in-shoe navigation device called Ashirase. The latter is designed to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating their surroundings.

Tickets for the 2023 Japan Mobility Show are currently available for purchase online. Advanced purchase tickets cost ¥2,700 (about $18), while same-day tickets are priced at ¥3,000 (about $20). Children of elementary-school age or younger can enter for free but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additionally, a reduced-price ticket will be offered after 4 p.m. for ¥1,500 (about $10). Honda Civic Type R-GT Begins Track Testing Ahead of 2024 Race Debut

In January of this year, Honda introduced the Civic Type R-GT prototype at the Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan as a preview of their new entry for the Super GT series. Now, Honda is moving into the next phase of development for the vehicle, with the first shakedown tests scheduled for July 25-26 at the Okayama International Circuit in Japan.

The Super GT series is a championship for grand touring cars that was established in 1993 and renamed in 2005. It is the highest level of car racing in Japan and currently consists of two classes: GT300 and GT500. The Honda Civic Type R-GT is set to replace the NSX-GT Type S, which won the championship for the last time in 2020. In the previous year, Nissan claimed the titles in both categories with the Z GT500 (in GT500 class) and the GT-R Nismo GT3 (in GT300 class).
