Volvo C40 Recharge EV Deliveries Begin In India

The first two Volvo C40 Recharge models were delivered in Kerala and Tamil Nadu

The Volvo C40 Recharge went on sale on September 4, and after almost 10 days, the carmaker has started delivering the EV to customers. The first two units of the Volvo EV were delivered in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is a coupe version of the XC40 Recharge electric SUV, and is sold in a single fully loaded variant priced at Rs 61.25 lakh (introductory ex-showroom pan-India).

What Powers It?

Volvo has provided the C40 Recharge with a 78kWh battery pack, having a WLTP-claimed range of 530km and an ICAT-claimed range of 683km. The EV comes with a dual-motor AWD setup rated at 408PS and 660Nm, enabling it to sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds.

Volvo has made it capable of supporting 150kW fast charging that helps refill the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 27 minutes. The carmaker has supplied the C40 Recharge with an 11kW charger on board.

Plenty Of Tech To Play With

The C40 Recharge’s equipment list packs a 9-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen, powered front seats with heating and cooling function, dual-zone climate control, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a panoramic glass roof. You get luggage space in the front (31 litres) as well as the back (413 litres).

Volvo has ensured passengers are kept safe by providing the EV with seven airbags, hill-assist, a 360-degree camera, and a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, and blind-spot detection.

Who Are Its Challengers?

Volvo’s second EV offering in India doesn’t have any direct competitors but is an alternative to the BMW i4Kia EV6Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Maruti Suzuki Arena Celebrates 6 Years with Over 7 Million Customers


Maruti Suzuki’s Arena network offers popular models like Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, and Brezza

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is commemorating six years since the launch of its Arena retail channel, which has catered to over 7 million customers during this period. The company has a presence of 2,853 outlets (including showrooms and service touch points) across 2,392 cities in the country.

The Arena lineup consists of models such as the Alto K10S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, and Brezza. Maruti introduced the Nexa channel in 2015 to focus on premium cars, while the Arena showrooms were launched in 2017 to cater to more affordable models.

Several Arena models, including the Alto K10, Wagon R, Swift, and Brezza, consistently rank among the top-selling cars in India each month. These models, on average, achieve around 10,000 monthly sales.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki, emphasizes the significant contribution of Arena to the brand’s success. With a standalone market share of over 29% in FY 2023-24 until July 2023, Arena’s lineup of 9 products has accounted for 68% of Maruti Suzuki’s overall sales.

Maruti Ertiga CNG

The Nexa lineup includes the Ignis, Baleno, XL6, Grand Vitara, Invicto, and Fronx. Maruti offers most of its cars with the option of CNG, while the Grand Vitara and Invicto models also have a strong-hybrid variant. By 2025, Maruti Suzuki is expected to release its first electric vehicle.
