Once the customization course of started, Paul knew he needed to create a giant wheel bagger like nobody had ever seen. Crucial to the venture was retaining as many unique BMW parts as doable. Paul needed his customized creation to stay authentically BMW and knew that it shouldn’t be made out of or look something like components from his present product line.

He commissioned a 26” x 5.5” entrance wheel reduce from a 400lb block of stable aluminium, which holds a hand-crafted 180mm huge entrance tire. The body needed to be stretched and raked to accommodate the brand new entrance wheel and particular triple bushes needed to be engineered to appropriate the path measurement and optimize dealing with.

Embracing the look of an iconic 50’s Mercury Lead Sled the workforce crafted a number of
one-of-a-kind parts and modified present R 18 parts. The metal entrance fender was made out of scratch. The unique R 18 fairing was reduce into a number of items and restructured to appropriate headlight place and circulate into the brand new entrance wheel. To deal with the hole between the fairing and the gasoline tank a novel chin spoiler was developed, strategically concealing the radiator. As the construct started to take form, Yaffe rearranged the unique R 18 taillights into the handmade filler panels and labored an space for the license plate into the fender in basic sizzling rod styling. He additionally stretched the unique R 18 aspect covers to retain their unique form and canopy extra space to assist the attention circulate into the baggage.

Turning their focus to the aspect pipe design the fabrication workforce aimed to protect the distinctive “BMW feel” that units this construct aside. Retaining the basic Boxer head pipes was non-negotiable in Paul’s imaginative and prescient. The catalytic converters had been faraway from the top pipes making manner for a bespoke perforated high-flow baffle system. This innovation not solely changed the restrictive emissions system but in addition retained important again strain for optimum efficiency. To additional improve the auditory expertise a precision-crafted
3-step muffler system was launched for reversion. The last contact was a wide-open megaphone, delivering that quintessential basic sizzling rod sound.

It all comes right down to cosmetics.
Shifting focus to cosmetics Paul needed a basic sizzling rod really feel with none distracting graphics, highlighting the bike’s elegant new stance and profile. The emphasis was on simplicity and attract. “We went to work perfecting all the fabricated body panels and smoothing everything to a glass-like finish.” After selecting a timeless deep gloss black end, the workforce’s consideration turned to reaching perfection for the physique. Paul tasked his devoted painter Hector Martinez, with making use of the flawless gloss black paint. Recognizing the necessity for distinction, Paul selected a basic ochs blood purple inside. See The Ford Ranger Raptor Set Oddly Specific Guinness Record

Stunt driver Paul Swift has a long list of records, and at the British Motor Show in August, he set a new one. Using a Ford Focus ST and a Mustang Dark Horse, he completed five stunts in 57.21 seconds, setting a new record.

Shortly after, Paul set another record while driving a Ford Ranger Raptor. He achieved an oddly specific Guinness World Record by navigating the tightest gap driven through by a pickup truck on two wheels.

This Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE Went For $20,000 USD

This Paul Smart Edition Ducati from 2006, known as the Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE, was recently sold for $19,250 USD. What makes this sale unique is that it is one of only 2,000 examples ever built by Ducati. This motorcycle was created to commemorate Paul Smart’s victory at Imola in 1972, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item. There was another similar model with only two miles on it that sold for $42,500 USD.

Surprisingly, the Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE listed on Bring a Trailer had close to 20,000 miles on it. This is rare considering the limited production and prestige of this bike. It is refreshing to see an owner who actually rode and enjoyed this machine. Ducati motorcycles are known for their exceptional riding experience, and the previous owners made sure to put the miles on it.

This bike has approximately 19,000 miles on it. The previous owner purchased it in 2023. Although the seller only rode about 100 miles before selling it on Bring a Trailer, the bike seems well-maintained. It received an oil change and battery replacement in January 2023, had the valves adjusted in 2015, and had the brake fluid flushed and replaced under its last owner. The timing belts were also changed in June 2023.

The Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE is equipped with a powerful 992cc Desmodromic L-twin engine and a six-speed transmission. It features a silver exterior paint finish over a green trellis frame and comes with Marelli electronic fuel injection, Termignoni mufflers, Öhlins suspension, Brembo brake discs, and alloy rims with wire spokes.

Considering its mileage, this bike does show signs of wear. However, it still comes with all the original manufacturer-provided literature, three keys, and the bike’s original tool kit.

The final sale price for this motorcycle was just under $20,000. Although it may seem like a high price for a bike with a significant number of miles, it is still a valuable and coveted motorcycle.
