Vauxhall has introduced a new five-year Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) offer for its core electric passenger car models – Astra Electric, New Corsa Electric, and Mokka Electric. This offer allows customers to spread their payments over a longer period, making electric vehicles more accessible. James Taylor, Managing Director of Vauxhall, stated that this offer is unique among manufacturers.

The offer is available with a representative APR of 9.9%. In addition, customers can take advantage of an additional £4,500 Finance Deposit Contribution on pre-facelift Corsa Electric models, while stocks last. By placing a deposit of £1,788, customers can expect monthly payments starting from £449 per month for the GS variant.

Vauxhall’s ‘Plug and Go’ offer allows customers to choose a wallbox and spread the cost across the length of their vehicle finance agreement. This offer is available with Vauxhall’s three approved national suppliers. The ‘Plug and Go’ offer also includes additional benefits such as eight years of roadside assistance, an eight-year battery warranty, and an Octopus Electroverse card that provides access to over 500,000 chargers across the UK and Europe.

The five-year PCP offer can be accessed through the Vauxhall Online Store, where customers can configure their vehicle, obtain a part-exchange valuation, and place an order from the comfort of their home. Alternatively, customers can visit their local Vauxhall Retailer.

Vauxhall is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the Astra Electric. By 2024, Vauxhall plans to offer an electric variant across its entire vehicle lineup and become an electric-only brand by 2028, which is seven years ahead of the UK Government deadline.

Vauxhall Electric Models Lead Sales in Three Segments, According to SMMT New Car Sales Figures

  • Three Vauxhall electric passenger car models become best-sellers in their segments for July
  • The Corsa Electric remains the best-selling Small Electric Car (Electric B-Hatch) for the year
  • The Mokka Electric leads sales in the Small Electric SUV (Electric B-SUV) category for 2023
  • The Vivaro Electric Life is the top-selling electric MPV in the UK so far this year
  • Vauxhall plans to become an electric-only manufacturer by 2028, ahead of the UK Government deadline

Recent data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveals that Vauxhall’s electric car range continues to perform well in the UK market. In July, Vauxhall’s electric models topped the sales charts in three segments.

The Corsa Electric was the best-selling Small Electric Car (Electric B-Hatch) in July and is leading the segment for the year, with 2,141 units sold so far. Similarly, the Mokka Electric emerged as the best-selling model in the Small Electric SUV (Electric B-SUV) category for both July and the year, with 5,573 units sold to date.

Furthermore, the Vivaro Electric Life has achieved the status of being the UK’s best-selling electric MPV, with 1,175 units registered this year.

Aside from the electric models, the Corsa also secured the top spot in the B-Hatch category in July and is the second best-selling car overall in the UK market so far this year, with 23,751 units sold.

Vauxhall has set ambitious goals to become an all-electric brand by 2028, which is seven years earlier than the UK Government’s deadline.

James Taylor, the Managing Director of Vauxhall, expressed his excitement about the success of the electric models, emphasizing that Vauxhall is leading the way in facilitating Britain’s transition to electric vehicles.

The Global Industry Revealed 43 New Production Vehicles In Q2 2023

Between April and June of this year, a total of 43 completely new passenger vehicles were introduced. These figures only include new generations or models launched during that period, excluding facelifts or major restylings, and disregarding the specific date of the vehicle’s presentation.

Half Are Chinese

Nearly half of the new reveals in the second quarter came from China, with a total of 19 presentations. This is an increase of two cars compared to the first quarter. It comes as no surprise, considering the numerous brands in the Chinese car market, that the country has a significantly higher number of new car introductions compared to other countries.

Following China, Germany had the second highest number of new car unveilings in Q2 2023, with five. Sweden followed with two. Overall, Europe presented a total of nine new cars: Renault Rafale (France), Smart #3, Volkswagen ID.7, Mercedes E-Class sedan and wagon, BMW 5 Series (Germany), Cupra Tavascan (Spain), and Polestar 4 and Volvo EX30 (Sweden).

India presented four new cars, while Japan presented five. The United States had only two cars, namely the Lincoln Nautilus and Toyota Tacoma. Mexico also launched two cars: the Chevrolet Aveo sedan and hatchback. Finally, Indonesia and Brazil each revealed one model, namely the Toyota Yaris Cross for Southeast Asian markets and the Ram Rampage.

Toyota Reveals Seven

As the world’s largest automobile manufacturer, Toyota is one of the busiest in terms of product presentations. In Q2 2023, they unveiled a total of seven new models. Toyota continues to renew and expand its range in order to maintain its position as the global sales leader.

During this period, Toyota introduced the fourth-generation Tacoma for the North American market and the Yaris Cross for emerging markets. Lexus, Toyota’s premium division, also revealed new models. They unveiled the second generation of the LM, a luxury minivan for Asian and European markets, the Lexus LBX for Europe and select Asian markets, the Lexus TX for the North American and Middle Eastern markets, the third generation of the Lexus GX mainly for North America and the Middle East, and finally the fourth generation of the Alphard for Asian markets.

General Motors followed Toyota with five new introductions, three for China and two for Mexico. Geely, a Chinese automaker with multiple brands, presented four new models, including the Geely Boyue, Lynk & Co 08, Polestar 4, and Volvo EX30. Great Wall Motors also introduced a new car.

SUVs Are More Than Half

The dominance of SUVs in the automotive industry is confirmed by the high number of new SUV models. According to global coverage (excluding LCVs and Iran), 61 percent of the new production vehicles introduced in Q2 2023 were SUVs. This percentage is even higher than the global market share of SUVs in passenger vehicle sales.

Out of the new production vehicles, 25 were SUVs, with 13 coming from China, four from Europe, three from India, three from Japan, and one each from Indonesia and the United States. Sedans, hatchbacks, wagons, MPVs, pickups, and sports cars accounted for the remaining new vehicle introductions.

Hyundai Ioniq 7: A New Seven-Passenger SUV with Interesting Details

In North America, three-row passenger SUVs are a hot commodity. As one of the most sought-after segments behind pickup trucks, almost every manufacturer either sells such a vehicle today or is actively working on one. Hyundai’s Palisade is its current offering, but it will soon be joined by an all-electric Ioniq 7.

The Ioniq 7 is based on the Kia EV9, which also benefits from the enlarged E-GMP platform. It will be the third-row crossover that anchors the Korean automaker’s electric SUV lineup. From its spy photos, it bears a strong resemblance to its Kia cousin and the renderings we saw last year. The body and roofline are similar to those of the EV9, but the front and rear fascias are concealed, indicating a different design.
