Google has confirmed that the next version of the Android logo will be in 3D. While the general design of the logo will remain the same, it will no longer have the flat aesthetic that is popular in product design. Instead, the new logo will have a more realistic matte texture.
This change in the logo is part of Google’s new brand identity for its mobile operating system. Over time, Android has undergone several design changes, including the decision to stop using food-based version names. Previously, each Android version was associated with a dessert name and imagery. The last major logo update occurred in 2019, introducing the flat lowercase “android” name and green robot head that we know today.
Google has not provided an official announcement regarding the introduction of the new brand identity or any other potential changes. However, considering that the 3D logo has been teased for months, it’s reasonable to expect that we’ll see these changes with the arrival of Android 14.
