NEW PEUGEOT 2008 OPEN FOR ORDERS

PEUGEOT order books for the new 2008 will open Monday 12 June, with first deliveries due later this summer. Available in three trim levels – Active, Allure and GT – and with a choice of electric and petrol powertrains, prices for the new 2008 start from £24,020 OTR.

A more assertive design

With an updated, more assertive design, the new 2008 benefits from a wider front end incorporating the PEUGEOT shield. The extended grille is finished in gloss black on Active models, while Allure and GT trims feature a body-coloured grille design.

The front of the new 2008 also adopts the latest PEUGEOT light signature, first seen on the new 508 and 508 SW, with new ‘three-claw’ LED daytime running lights and new LED rear lights on all versions. Full LED headlights are available on GT models.

At the rear, PEUGEOT lettering runs across the entire width of the boot lid. Active models feature 16-inch wheels with a new stylish ‘Silom’ trim, while Allure and GT trims are fitted with new 17-inch ‘Karakoy’ diamond-cut alloys. GT models are further distinguished by a black diamond roof.

Electric and petrol powertrains

The new 2008 will be available from launch with a new, fully electric powertrain. Available across all trim levels, the e-2008’s new 54kWh battery brings an increased range of up to 251 miles (WLTP), while a new electric motor increases power to 156hp – an increase of 15%.

Customers can also opt for a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine. The PureTech 100, available exclusively in Active trim, is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the PureTech 130 (available in Allure and GT trims) can be combined with either an EAT8 eight-speed automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox.

From 2024, a new 136hp HYBRID powertrain will join the 2008 line-up, combining a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine with a new six-speed dual-clutch electrified gearbox incorporating an electric motor – offering up to a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions over petrol models.

Specification

PEUGEOT has simplified the trim line-up on the new 2008, bringing it into line with the rest of the PEUGEOT range. Customers can choose from Active, Allure and GT, while a First Edition model is available exclusively on the fully electric e-2008.

Inside, all new 2008 models now come with a 10-inch central touchscreen as standard as part of PEUGEOT’s innovative i-Cockpit®, as well as a row of toggle switches for quick access to key functions. The upgraded i-Cockpit® also includes a new compact steering wheel featuring the PEUGEOT shield.

Active models feature a new ‘Calcite’ interior stitching and ‘Mistral’ roof lining as well as a suite of safety and convenience features, such as rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter and automatic emergency braking. A new 10-inch Touchscreen and Wireless MirrorScreen for Apple Carplay™ and Android Auto™ complete the Active trim.

Meanwhile, Allure trim brings an enhanced technology offering including PEUGEOT’s i-Connect infotainment system with natural voice recognition, as well as a new 10-inch digital instrument cluster. Front parking sensors, an electronic handbrake and a drive mode selector are also standard on Allure models.

Completing the standard line-up, GT trim adds a 3D Quartz digital instrument cluster, an HD reversing camera and full LED headlights with Smartbeam Assist and automatic height adjustment. A leather steering wheel with GT lettering, keyless entry and wireless smartphone charging enhance comfort and connectivity. Drivers can also choose from eight colours of ambient lighting linked to the drive modes.

To celebrate the launch of the new e-2008, PEUGOT is offering a First Edition model with an enhanced specification based on GT trim. Additional features include heated Alcantara® seats with ‘Adamite’ stitching. The driver’s seat is also electrically adjustable and comes with a massage function. A tri-phase 11kW onboard charger is fitted as standard (available as an option on other trims), while upgraded infotainment is provided with the PEUGEOT i-Connect® Advanced with Connected Navigation.

The First Edition will be available exclusively in two new body colours for the new 2008 – Selenium Grey and Okenite White.

The new 2008 is available to order now, with prices starting from £24,020 OTR.

Nissan Formula E Team takes double top-five finish in Jakarta

JAKARTA, IndonesiaNissan Formula E Team took their best result of the season in Jakarta, with Sacha Fenestraz and Norman Nato both putting in excellent performances to take fourth and fifth respectively in Round 11 of the 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

After a tough first race of the weekend for the squad, Fenestraz claimed second in his qualifying group on Sunday, progressing to the Duels. The Franco-Argentine driver started seventh, and got an excellent launch off the line, moving up to fourth by the end of Lap 1.

Meanwhile, Frenchman Nato was making solid progress through the field, keeping cool in the Jakarta heat to make places during the Attack Mode phase. Having started 12th, Nato avoided incidents ahead of him and used his speed and overtaking ability to move further into the top-10.

Helped by the team’s strong strategy, both drivers continued to push into the higher points-paying positions, challenging for a podium spot until the final corner. The pair combined for 22 points, the squad’s best result of the season so far.

Formula E returns on 24 June for the final single-header of the season, as the series makes it first visit to Portland, USA.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: “A rollercoaster of a weekend, with a tough race yesterday and a really good one today. We were stronger in qualifying and had a much better strategy during the race. Both drivers did a great job, with some impressive overtakes. Sacha even battled for the podium until the final corner, while Norman’s defense was very solid at the end of the race. We can be very happy with our performance and proud of the team and drivers. Our focus now is to take this positive showing into the next round in Portland to pick up even more points there.”

Sacha Fenestraz: “This weekend was a good way to see our strengths and weaknesses as a team. Today was a very positive race, it was great for the crew to reward their hard work over the last few months. Yesterday was quite frustrating, but we came back strongly and both cars had very good pace. Norman did a superb job to come from P12 on the grid to P5 at the finish and I’m really happy that we both took a strong result. The heat was definitely a challenge, but the humidity was the most difficult. However, we pushed through as a team to score some really good points. I’m now looking forward to Portland, it’s a brand-new track for all of us so it should be an interesting one!”

Norman Nato: “Today was really positive. We changed the setup, because yesterday we weren’t so competitive and it worked for us. We managed to put it all together in the race and react from the frustration of Saturday to get a great result for both cars. We’ll now look to analyze this one to see what we can do to continue improving for Portland. We had strong pace throughout today’s event, so we have to aim to score big points for the rest of the season. We’re not far off the leading teams based on this performance, and we have five races left to prove what we can do this year.”
