You Might Want To Watch This 2024 BMW R 1300 GS Get Unboxed

The 2024 BMW R 1300 GS is officially unveiled and headed or already at dealerships. The new model may have ruffled a few feathers in its camp and the adventure riding community as a whole, but one thing is for certain, we’re expecting the brand to continue selling a ton of these bikes in the near future.

One of the things that has changed between the 1250 GS and the 1300 GS is the size of the bike. The R 1300 GS has leaned a little more on its off-road capability rather than its touring look. With a presence that is not as boisterous as it once was, the totally new look has made a bit of a splash. Personally, I like it but that hasn’t stopped long-time GS fans from penalizing BMW for changing a lot of things on its beloved GS.

Regardless, we’re looking forward to what this model will bring to the market, and here is a video that you might want to see if you are like me and a fan of the brand-new GS’ look.

For the 2024 model year, while you may not be able to see it when you pick up your bike, this is how the GS will come into the dealers. Within the shipping crate, the bike will be disassembled on a few fronts, namely with regard to some of the bits that stick out like the windshield, the side mirrors, and also the license of the skid plate. Apart from that, the GPS mount and even the tool kit have been separated from the seat from the factory in Germany.

Speaking of the factory in Germany, Smokey also has another video of him getting a tour and attending the global launch of the 2024 R 1300 GS. It’s also worth a watch as well.

The model that Life of Smokey is unboxing is a Triple Black, but it’s one of the last showroom units that the BMW dealer had to unbox. The others on the floor include the sweet-looking green colorway, which was used to demo the new center stand assist feature.

As for the unboxing itself, it went quite smoothly. After the bike was assembled a quick sound and startup test was done as well as a quick test ride. Throughout the video, there were also other live demonstrations that were conducted and that would be nice to have a gander at. BMW Louyet in Waterloo, Belgium, was the dealer that hosted Smokey and it got a clip of gratitude at the end of the video as well. While many won’t get to unbox a bike in person, at least here’s a video covering the activity in rather good detail.

New Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is a 480bhp electric trail toy

The upcoming Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is an exciting electric 4×4 designed for off-road adventures. It will be available in UK dealerships starting in early 2024. The car was first showcased in camouflage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and has now been fully revealed at the Munich motor show.

The Mach-E Rally features several upgrades to enhance its off-road capabilities. It is equipped with a slightly modified version of the Mach-E GT’s dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain, which delivers an impressive 480bhp and 649lb ft of torque. While specific performance details have not been confirmed by Ford, it is expected to accelerate from 0-62mph in around 4.0 seconds.

What sets the Mach-E Rally apart is its bespoke chassis setup. It rides 20mm higher than the standard Mach-E and comes with specially tuned springs, Magenride shocks, and chunky Michelin CrossClimate tires fitted on gloss white 19-inch rally wheels. These features provide enhanced travel, improved bump-cushioning, and better off-road performance.

Additionally, the Mach-E Rally introduces a Rally Sport driving mode that offers a linear throttle response, aggressive damping, and improved traction on slippery surfaces. The traction and stability control systems have also been adjusted to allow for more controlled slides. The underbody of the car is protected by thick shielding, and the body cladding is coated with a protective spray to reduce the risk of damage.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally’s unique styling takes inspiration from the iconic Ford Focus RS hot hatch, particularly its “dramatic” rear spoiler. The car features contrasting body trim, a beefy front splitter, a black roof panel, rally-style foglights, and racing stripes. It even has a front bumper with integrated hooks for those adventurous off-road moments.

New 2023 Kia EV9 priced from £64,995 in the UK

The Kia EV9 is set to join the Kia EV6 crossover in dealerships by late 2023. This marks the beginning of a new design era for Kia as part of its ambitious ‘Plan S’ to introduce 13 customized EVs by 2027.

Kia’s chief brand officer, Artur Martens, emphasized the significance of the EV9 in reshaping the brand’s image and highlighted the brand’s commitment to dealer reform and expansion into new segments.

The EV9, with three rows of seating, will be the most expensive and largest Kia model to date. The base Air trim starts at £64,995 and offers the longest range of 336 miles per charge. The GT-Line and GT-Line S variants are priced at £72,495 and £75,995 respectively, while the top-of-the-line six-seat GT-Line S model costs £78,745.

The EV9 represents a significant milestone as the first Kia model entirely designed by former BMW designer Karim Habib. Habib stated that future Kia models will have obvious visual connections, while also avoiding a “Russian doll” approach to design.

The production version of the EV9 closely resembles the radical concept Kia unveiled in Los Angeles in 2021 in terms of its silhouette and design cues. However, it features a lower ride height due to a thicker battery pack and 21-inch wheels (19-inch and 20-inch options will also be available). Some of the concept car’s sharp edges have been softened. Kia refers to its design philosophy for the new EV family as “Opposites united” and describes the EV9 as a fusion of sleek, sculptural design and confident, assertive geometry.
