The Adams Probe 16: The Unconventional Car With a Unique Style

Dennis and Peter Adams, who used to work at a British sports car manufacturer called Marcos, decided to create futuristic cars that explore extreme styling. The result of their efforts ended up being featured in Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange.”

The M-505 Probe 16 stood at just 34 inches tall and didn’t have conventional doors. Instead, it featured a sliding glass roof that necessitated passengers to hop in and slide down into reclined bucket-style seats.

Although the interior resembled a jet fighter cockpit, it was powered by a 1.8-liter OHV, 1,900cc JanSpeed-tuned 4-cylinder Austin B-series engine from British Motor Corporation (BMC), positioned transversely behind the driver. It was paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox, along with four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes.

The Probe 16 made its debut at the 1969 London Motor Show, where it received the “Best Styling Exercise” award. While three were produced, only two are currently known to exist (chassis no. AB/2 and AB/3). Initially, it was believed that the prototype was destroyed in a fire, a known issue with mid-engine cars from that era, leaving behind chassis AB/3 and AB/4.

However, according to Bonhams (who auctioned off AB/3 in 2020 for $184,800), the prototype, which was sold to songwriter Jimmy Webb, is still in existence, while AB/4 is not. Regardless, it’s without a doubt a concept car that should have been produced.

2023 BUDDS CREEK NATIONAL MX RESULTS

The Lawrence brothers showcased their skills once again at Budds Creek in Maryland. Despite a poor start in moto one, Jett Lawrence dominated the 450 class with a 1-1 finish. Chase Sexton struggled with multiple crashes throughout the day, showing that he can match Jett’s speed but lacking consistency. In the 250 class, Hunter Lawrence had a fierce battle with Justin Cooper, resulting in a tie in moto wins. However, Hunter emerged as the overall winner due to his victory in the second moto. The 250 title will be decided in the final round in Indiana next week, and Haiden Deegan has been officially eliminated from contention. Deegan had a challenging weekend, as he was leading moto one when a red flag forced a restart, and he crashed before reaching the first turn. Witness the Resurrection of a 1924 Dodge Barn Find Parked for 83 Years

The 1924 Dodge Brothers Coupe was renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and quality. Equipped with a reliable inline-four-cylinder engine, it offered decent horsepower for its time. The interior boasted luxurious appointments, providing passengers with a comfortable and peaceful ride. It exemplified automotive innovation, showcasing the company’s evolving engineering and design expertise. However, locating original examples, such as the one featured in this video, has become incredibly rare.

Classic Car Rescue stumbled upon this hidden gem, the Dodge coupe, which had been stored in a barn for over eight decades. The last time it was driven was in 1940, during Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s tenure as president, and just a year before the eruption of the Second World War. Despite being almost a century old, the car still remains remarkably intact. All four wheels move freely, facilitating its easy removal from the barn. The body and interior are in good condition and would be presentable with a thorough cleaning.

However, reviving this classic vehicle will require more effort. The electrical system has become fragile over time, and finding necessary components like points or a condenser at a local auto parts store will prove challenging. Similarly, the spark plugs, larger than their modern counterparts, may not be readily available. On a positive note, most primary components of the Dodge’s engine are similar to those found in contemporary automobiles, making troubleshooting relatively straightforward.

In essence, an internal combustion engine necessitates air, fuel, and an ignition source to function. With these elements and a little perseverance, even long-dormant vehicles like the Dodge in question or the 1916 Federal Motors truck featured last week can be brought back to life. Gradually, the Dodge roars to life, its engine chugging along, gathering the courage to move under its own power, finally embarking on the road once more.

A century has passed since the Dodge Brothers coupe rolled off the assembly line at the factory near Hamtramck, Michigan. Over the years, Dodge, as well as the city of Detroit and communities like Hamtramck, have undergone significant transformations. Nevertheless, the automaker continues to produce vehicles, including the Dodge Charger and Challenger. These cars still operate on the same principle as the Dodge Brothers coupe from a hundred years ago.

Brickmania Launches Officially Licensed Blues Brothers Kit For $210

Brickmania has released a new model of the iconic Bluesmobile from the movie “Blues Brothers.” This kit is officially licensed and includes a small replica of the black-and-white 1974 Dodge Monaco along with two minifigures of Jake and Elwood Blues.

The kit, which consists of 332 Lego bricks and Brickmania elements, is now available for pre-order. While it is not a limited edition, it is uncertain when it will be restocked after the initial batch sells out. The kit retails for $210, and it comes with full-color printed instructions and custom-printed elements for the vehicle. The Dodge Monaco features functional doors and the roof-mounted loudspeaker, just like in the movie, giving it an authentic look.

Brickmania specializes in creating custom building kits using Lego bricks and unique elements. The company offers a wide range of products, with many of them being military-themed vehicles. Their catalog includes warships, airplanes, tanks, trucks, artillery batteries from various wars, and even replicas of the Apollo 11 Command Module, the Vostok 6 Soviet spacecraft, and a Viking raiding ship that retails for $990.

The release of the Bluesmobile kit in brick form coincides with the 40th anniversary of the “Blues Brothers” movie in 2020. The film, which was released in 1980, follows the adventures of the characters Jake and Elwood Blues portrayed by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, respectively. In the movie, the brothers embark on a mission to raise money for an orphanage that is facing tax issues.

During their journey, the Blues Brothers find themselves in trouble, leading to a 106-mile car chase into downtown Chicago. This epic chase scene involves over 100 police cars, tanks, and helicopters. Now, with the Bluesmobile Lego kit, fans can recreate this action-packed scene on a smaller scale at home.

For years, Lego enthusiasts have been using Lego bricks to build all kinds of vehicles. While not every vehicle make and model is available in official Lego kits, this hasn’t stopped people from creating their own designs. Lego offers a variety of vehicle sets, and Lego Technic adds even more intricacy and detail to the building process, resulting in lifelike final products.
