How To Filter Out Texts From Unknown Numbers In iMessage

If you want to stop receiving messages from unknown numbers on your iPhone, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Select Messages.
  3. Scroll down and select “Unknown & Spam” under Message Filtering.
  4. Enable “Filter Unknown Senders” on the next screen.

This feature in iMessage uses your address book to distinguish between known and unknown numbers. It can also identify texts from people you know but who are not on your contact list. To ensure you receive all messages, it’s important to save the contact details of everyone you know. If you can’t find a message, it might be in the Unknown Senders folder. Here’s how you can check:

  1. Open the Messages app.
  2. Tap Filters at the top right corner.
  3. Select Unknown Senders.
  4. Scroll down to see if the text is there.

If someone you know has sent you a link that you can’t open, you can make the link work by replying to the message. Responding to an SMS or MMS message three times or adding the sender’s number to your contacts will make iOS stop filtering out messages from that particular sender. Their texts will then show up in your primary inbox.
