Although electric vehicles have their critics, it’s hard to deny the exceptional performance advantages offered by the technology. The Tesla Model S, especially the Plaid variant, stands as a top contender in the performance car segment. With its triple-motor setup, this model unleashes an astounding amount of power on the German Autobahn, as depicted in the video above.

The Model S Plaid boasts a staggering 1,020 horsepower, which allows the family sedan to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately two seconds. It’s undeniably quick, and in the video, the stripped-out version equipped with the new Track Package effortlessly reaches speeds exceeding 200 mph on the Autobahn.

This version of the sedan doesn’t have rear seats, further enhancing its performance capabilities. The onboard data recorder captures the car going from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 2.35 seconds, and it covers the quarter-mile in just 9.33 seconds, reaching a speed of 151.15 mph (243.25 kph).

The Tesla accelerates from 0 to 124 mph (200 kph) in an astonishing 6.41 seconds, and it takes an additional 8.89 seconds to reach 186 mph (300 kph) from 124 mph. The video shows the vehicle reaching 203.8 mph (328 kph). It completes the half-mile mark in 14.64 seconds, effortlessly overtaking other cars on the Autobahn.

Earlier this year, a different Model S Plaid achieved slightly slower numbers on the Autobahn. It took 2.56 seconds for the car to reach 62 mph, 6.82 seconds to hit 124 mph, and 9.62 seconds to cross the quarter-mile mark.

Whether rear seats are installed or not, these numbers are undoubtedly impressive and showcase the major advantages of EVs. Not only are they quick, often surpassing top speeds with their raw power, but the Model S Plaid offers both incredible acceleration and impressive speeds as long as the battery has sufficient charge. As the electric vehicle technology continues to progress, they will become more efficient, affordable, and powerful.

Tesla has recently made the Model S more accessible by reducing its price, a trend that has been consistent with the company in 2023. The Dual-Motor All-Wheel-Drive version now starts at $74,990, down from $88,490. Similarly, the Plaid variant, with its 1,020 horsepower and exhilarating acceleration, is now priced at $89,990, reduced from $108,490, and it still offers a range of 396 miles. The base Model S can travel 405 miles before requiring a recharge.
