The Hyundai i20 hatchback has undergone an update, receiving a subtle redesign, new interior technology, and improved safety features. The pricing and specifications for the updated model have now been announced.

Expected to go on sale in the third quarter of 2023, the new i20 will have a starting price of £20,770 in the UK. Hyundai hopes that these updates will help boost sales for the i20, which competes with the Seat Ibiza.

There will be three available specification levels: Advance, Premium, and Ultimate.

The Advance models come well-equipped with features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, smartphone mirroring, and a leather steering wheel. Additionally, entry-level models will include a suite of safety equipment, including cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, speed warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam.

Premium models start at £22,570 and offer larger 17-inch wheels, electric mirrors, privacy glass, automatic wipers, ambient lighting, climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen.

The top-of-the-line Ultimate model, priced at £24,070, adds keyless entry, start-stop engine functionality, a wireless phone-charging pad, a premium eight-speaker sound system from Bose, blindspot monitoring, and forward-collision assistance.

Hyundai has also streamlined the engine options for the i20. All models now come with a turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 98bhp, with the 118bhp version no longer available. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

WLTP economy figures for the i20 have yet to be confirmed by Hyundai.
