Mercedes-Benz is set to release a comprehensive over-the-air update to its multimedia system in September. This update will be available to over 700,000 vehicles worldwide with the second-generation MBUX1. The update includes several enhancements such as the addition of Dolby Atmos, improvements to the Voice Assistant, and upgrades to the navigation and entertainment functionality.

Owners of these vehicles will receive notifications for the MBUX Entertainment Update 2.4 via the Update Wizard or the Mercedes me mobile app. The update will be delivered over-the-air using MBUX’s built-in capability. Along with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant improvements, the software update will also introduce new features such as NewsFlash and the YouTube Web app on select 2024 model year vehicles equipped with the Entertainment Package Plus, including the S-Class, EQE, and EQS models.

Dolby Atmos, supported by Apple Music, will provide an immersive stereo sound experience in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This technology adds more space, clarity, and depth to music, allowing listeners to experience the artist’s original vision. With Dolby Atmos, you can hear the movement of instruments, the singer’s breath between lyrics, and feel the melodies in a whole new way.

The updated Voice Assistant in MBUX enables occupants of the vehicle to control infotainment features using the “Hey Mercedes” command. In addition to this, the update also includes NewsFlash, a feature that will be available in the US later this year. NewsFlash allows users to listen to news on various topics such as general news, business, finance, and culture. Users can configure their favorite radio channels in the Mercedes me app and use the MBUX Voice Assistant with the “Hey Mercedes” command to enjoy news or play their favorite music.
