Dacia Plans to Become a Competitor to Jeep by Offering Affordable Vehicles, Starting with the 2024 Duster

Dacia, a brand owned by Renault, has experienced significant growth in recent years. In 2022, it surpassed Opel/Vauxhall, Fiat, Citroën, Nissan, and SEAT in sales, according to JATO’s data. It finished the year in 12th place and climbed to 10th place in the first half of 2023, surpassing Kia and trailing just behind Ford.

To maintain its sales momentum, Dacia will introduce an updated Spring electric city car in 2024, along with the third-generation Duster. This compact SUV, known for its off-road capabilities, will lead Dacia’s efforts to position itself as an affordable alternative to Jeep. The company, based in Mioveni, Romania, has already embraced an adventurous lifestyle with accessories and special editions. The next Duster will have a lifestyle-oriented approach, featuring rugged design elements.
