These 7 Cars Sold In India Get A Factory-fitted Dashcam

Except with the Hyundai Exter and Hyundai Venue N Line, the dashcam is being offered with special edition variants of the other models

A dashcam is an essential feature in a country like India, where various incidents can occur that may pose a threat to you or your car. It provides concrete evidence by recording what exactly happened at the scene, which can save you from any trouble you might encounter. Several automakers, including Hyundai, Renault, and Skoda, now offer a factory-fitted dashcam with select models. Let’s take a closer look at each of these models.

Hyundai Exter

Hyundai Exter

The trend of offering a factory-fitted dashcam started with the launch of the Hyundai Exter in July. The Exter comes with a dual-camera setup dashcam that captures the view ahead as well as the cabin. This feature is exclusively available in the top-spec SX(O) Connect variant of the micro SUV, with prices ranging from Rs 9.32 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh.

Renault Triber

The Renault Triber recently received an ‘Urban Night’ edition for the festive season, which includes a new exterior shade and a 9.66-inch Smart View monitor. This monitor serves as both an interior rear-view mirror (IRVM) with adjustable angles and a dashcam with front and rear cameras. It also features wireless smartphone connectivity for easy content download. This special edition is based on the top-spec RXZ variant of the Triber, and customers need to pay an additional Rs 14,999 over the top-spec variant price. Only 300 units of the Renault Triber Urban Black edition will be available.

This special edition is based on the top-spec RXZ trim of the Kiger and costs an additional Rs 14,999. Only 300 units of this special edition of the Kiger will be sold.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta Adventure edition

The Hyundai Creta, one of the best-selling compact SUVs in India, introduced a special limited-run ‘Adventure’ edition variant in August. Along with new exterior and interior shades, this edition comes equipped with a dual-camera dashcam. The special edition Creta is based on the mid-spec SX and top-spec SX(O) variants, with prices ranging from Rs 15.17 lakh to Rs 17.89 lakh.

Skoda Slavia

Skoda recently introduced a more affordable ‘Ambition Plus’ mid-spec variant of the Slavia, just in time for the festive season. Along with minor cosmetic changes, this variant of the Slavia also comes with a built-in dashcam. However, unlike other models on this list, it features a single camera setup to record the view ahead. The Ambition Plus variant of the Skoda Slavia is priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.79 lakh.

Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue recently introduced the new ‘Knight Edition,’ which features an all-black treatment inside and outside and is equipped with a dual-camera dashcam. Hyundai has also extended this feature to the N6 trim of the Venue N Line, the sportier version of the subcompact Hyundai SUV. The Venue Knight edition is priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 13.48 lakh, while the Venue N Line’s N6 variant is priced at Rs 12 lakh to Rs 12.82 lakh.

These are the seven mass-market models that come with a factory-fitted dashcam, not as an accessory. However, most of them are limited-edition models.
