JORGE PRADO TO RACE AMA SUPERCROSS

MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado will participate in at least three rounds of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross season as a guest of the Troy Lee GasGas team. The official press release follows:

Jorge Prado, the defending MXGP World Champion, has made the decision to compete in AMA Supercross after a two-week shakedown in Southern California training at RD Field. He is set to make a guest appearance in the opening three rounds of the 2024 season.

He will ride a GASGAS MC 450F for the first time in an American Supercross start, entering the premier 450SX ranks at Anaheim 1, San Francisco, and San Diego in January. This marks a significant milestone for the Spanish sensation, who expressed his lifelong dream of trying his hand at Supercross in the United States after winning the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship in the MXGP category.

Fresh from his MXGP title win, Jorge aims to gain experience in the U.S. during the Grand Prix off-season, accompanied by both his regular Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team and the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team.

In making the announcement, Jorge stated, “Since I started riding, my dream has always been to race in the U.S., specifically in Supercross. I have watched it my whole life on television and always thought it must be great to race under lights with a huge crowd and atmosphere! And more specifically, it must be great to race at an iconic stadium like Angel Stadium.”

Jorge’s decision is fully supported by his Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team and the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team in the USA.

Roger De Coster, Director of Motorsports, North America, expressed his excitement for Jorge’s venture into Supercross, acknowledging the talent and toughness required for such a competitive discipline. The support from TLD GASGAS is essential to enable Jorge to pursue his aspirations in Supercross.

Davide De Carli, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager, emphasized the team’s pride in Jorge’s MXGP World Championship win and expressed their complete support for his Supercross aspirations.

Following his appearance in the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship, Jorge will return to Europe to prepare for his MXGP World Championship defense, which commences at the MXGP of Patagonia-Argentina on March 10, 2024.
