Investigation Launched into Bright “X” Sign at Twitter Headquarters

Twitter headquarters is once again facing trouble over its recent rebranding efforts. The company had begun dismantling its vertical Twitter sign without informing the property owner, leading to law enforcement halting the work midway. As a result, only the “er” part of the logo remained intact.

A complaint about an “unsafe sign” was filed with the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection regarding the “@” symbol on the vertical branding board. Inspectors were worried that it could fall and cause harm to pedestrians. Both the “@” symbol and the remaining “er” sections of the sign have since been taken down. It is uncertain whether Twitter will have to remove its new illuminated sign on top of the building.

In addition to the sign investigation, Twitter’s rebranding has faced ongoing criticism, and there are concerns about potential legal issues related to their use of the letter “X.” Meta and Microsoft own trademarks for the letter “X,” and as Meta now competes directly with Twitter through its own microblogging platform called Threads, there might be a possibility of courtroom drama in the future.

Why Meta’s Logo Could Cause Issues for Elon’s Twitter Rebrand

A trademark filing presented to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) suggests that Meta’s “X” design is a modified version consisting of two arrows. One arrow is blue and the other is white, and they face each other to form the letter X. In contrast, Twitter’s logo features a single line crossed by two parallel lines creating the silhouette of an “X.” The differences between the logos are apparent, even in terms of their background colors.

The potential legal dispute lies in the types of services the logo is meant to represent. Meta’s patent filing indicates that the logo could be used for various purposes such as game content, digital media, images, music, audio, video, movies, and animations. While this appears to cover a vast range of products, it’s the following sections that may lead to contention.

Meta states that the “X” logo could also be utilized for online social networking services, including facilitating social introductions or interactions among individuals. In simpler terms, it could be used for typical social media platforms like X, Threads, Instagram, and TikTok. Moreover, the trademark’s status is currently listed as “Active,” granting Meta the freedom to implement it for its own products whenever it deems fit. Nonetheless, it’s important to note that Meta does not exclusively own the rights to the letter X itself.

GMF Capital Acquires Motorsport Network Media LLC

New York, June 28, 2023 – GMF Capital (GMF), a leading private investment firm and family office for Gary Fegel, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Motorsport Network Media LLC (MSNM), a global digital media platform in the motorsport and automotive industries. The terms of the acquisition involve GMF Media, an affiliate of GMF Capital, acquiring the controlling majority stake in MSNM, with an option to purchase the remaining minority interest at a later date.

MSNM is recognized as the world’s largest independent motorsport and automotive media platform, boasting over 40 million monthly users and more than 15 million followers on social media. Under GMF’s control, the acquisition includes nearly 50 flagship motorsport and automotive digital properties such as Motorsport.com, Autosport, Motorsport-Total, GPOne, Motor1.com, and InsideEVs.com. Additionally, the deal encompasses the Motorsport Network brand name, Motorsport.tv (a leading video platform for live and on-demand streaming), and the Autosport Awards (the world’s premier motorsport racing annual awards ceremony).

Watch: Onboard POV Footage Of Davey Todd in the Isle Of Man TT 2023

Just another day in the office for Davey Todd, but a frightful and heart-pounding one for others. Check out this British racer’s run on the Isle of Man TT, aboard his Honda. 

Hear that idle? That is the sound of Davey’s CBR1000RR-R with its 180-degree inline-four pumping out over 200 ponies of power, on some sticky rubber, and just about ready to go tackle the course. Hearing an inline-four engine spool up is still an amazing experience for many, and let’s grace your screens with a show of sights, sounds, and screams. 

Davey Todd races for the Padgett’s Motorcycles Honda team, and the conditions were great on the day of the race, enough for the onboard footage to look clear and for the bike to run at full tilt. 

Posted on the Isle of Man TT’s YouTube channel, in addition to special on-board footage, the channel also has more content for you to digest such as highlights, round-ups, and more. 

It’s interesting to see just how much the rider’s head shifts and moves during these high-speed Isle of Man TT races. TT riders are often touted as the most daring in the world, going in excess of 150 miles per hour and easily averaging over 120 miles per hour per run.

The intensity going at that speed will be enough to make most riders slow down and let off the throttle, but these racers are truly a different breed, unleashing everything that their race bikes have to offer, and Davey Todd is no exception. 

The entire video goes on and on for 18 minutes of intense high-speed action, and it is a testament to the training and the planning that Isle of Man TT racers undergo for just about 20 minutes of some of the most intense riding in the world. Death is a common occurrence at these speeds, and many riders have unfortunately lost their lives to this grand spectacle of an event. 

So, that’s that. Check the video out, because it’s a rare glimpse for us, mere mortals, to see what goes on aboard these TT race bikes, or you can enter the TT in the virtual world courtesy of a video game.
