Hennessey Exorcist: Chevrolet Camaro’s Powerful Farewell

The Hennessey Exorcist Camaro ZL1 Final Edition pays tribute to the Chevrolet Camaro and is the fastest-accelerating car from the American tuner.

The current sixth-generation combustion-engined Camaro will be retired in 2024 after its introduction in 2016.

Reports suggest that it will be replaced with an electric mid-sized saloon, a departure from the two-door sports coupé format that the model line has followed since 1966.

Limited to a production run of 57 cars, the Exorcist boasts a completely overhauled 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, delivering a staggering 1000bhp and 922 lb-ft of torque.

This power results in a 0-62mph time of just 2.1 seconds, matching the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 and surpassing every car previously produced by Hennessey, including its own Venom hypercar with a top speed of 250mph.

The Exorcist has a top speed of 217mph and can complete a quarter mile in just 9.57 seconds, matching the Tesla Model S Plaid and beating the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

With the aim of muscle car supremacy, the Exorcist brings a set of technical upgrades over the standard 650bhp Camaro ZL1. Its engine features a larger supercharger, a high-pressure fuel system, a high-flow induction system, bespoke camshafts, intake valves, and exhaust valves. Additionally, its suspension has been enhanced with upgraded pushrods.

Each Exorcist engine is marked with a plaque indicating its unique build number. Production has commenced.

Hennessey Camaro ZL1 Exorcist Final Edition: A Powerful Farewell

The Chevrolet Camaro is approaching its retirement, but Hennessey is giving it a grand finale with the introduction of the ZL1 Exorcist Final Edition. This special edition model boasts an impressive 1,000 horsepower, and only 57 units will be produced.

So how does Hennessey achieve this incredible power output? They start by taking the 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine and making several upgrades. These upgrades include a larger supercharger, a higher flowing air intake, and an updated fuel system with a new pump and injectors. The engine also receives ported cylinder heads, new camshafts, and improved components such as valves, springs, retainers, lifters, and pushrods. To further enhance performance, additional tuning features a bigger heat exchanger, stainless steel headers, and high-flow catalytic converters.
