Volvo C40 Recharge

  • The C40 Recharge is Volvo’s second EV offering in India after the XC40 Recharge.

  • It borrows the XC40 Recharge’s Thor’s Hammer-shaped LED DRLs and alloy wheels but features a distinctive sloping roofline.

  • Key features include a 9-inch touchscreen, a panoramic glass roof, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems).

  • The C40 Recharge supports 150kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10-80 percent in just 27 minutes.

  • Equipped with a dual-motor AWD powertrain, the C40 Recharge has a performance rating of 408PS.

After its India showcase in June 2023, the Volvo C40 Recharge is now available for sale at an introductory price of Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). This electric coupe is based on the XC40 Recharge, an electric SUV. Deliveries of the C40 Recharge will begin before the end of September.

Sportier Looks

Volvo C40 Recharge

The C40 Recharge shares a similar front design with the XC40 Recharge, featuring a closed grille and Thor’s hammer-shaped LED DRLs. However, it stands out with its sloping roofline and sportier rear end, giving it a more dynamic appearance. The SUV coupe’s back is highlighted by a unique pair of LED taillights that extend into the tailgate.

Familiar On The Inside

Volvo C40 Recharge Interior

Similar to other Volvo models, the interior of the C40 Recharge follows a minimalist design, mirroring the layout of the XC40 Recharge. It is the first Volvo model to offer a completely leather-free interior. The cabin also features partially recycled upholstery and carpets.

Equipment On Offer

The Volvo C40 Recharge comes loaded with a range of equipment, including a 9-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, powered front seats with heating and cooling function, a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, and a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

In terms of safety, Volvo has equipped the C40 Recharge with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill-assist, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, and blind-spot detection.

Electric Power For The Win

The C40 Recharge is powered by a 78kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 530km. With its dual-motor AWD setup, it delivers an impressive 408PS and 660Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds.

It is worth noting that the C40 Recharge supports 150kW fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 27 minutes.

Competition Check

The Volvo C40 Recharge doesn’t have any direct competitors in the electric SUV coupe segment. However, it competes with similarly priced EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BMW i4, and its sibling, the XC40 Recharge.
