Volvo Cars experienced a 25% growth in global sales in September, with a total of 61,666 cars sold. This represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year, driven by sales growth in Europe, the US, and China. In the first nine months of this year, the company sold 509,158 cars, marking a 19% increase compared to the previous year.
A key contributing factor to Volvo Cars’ sales growth was the Recharge line-up of models, which includes fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains. In September, the sales of Recharge models rose by 37% and accounted for 34% of all cars sold globally. The share of fully electric cars also saw a notable increase, representing 15% of overall sales compared to 12% in September 2022.
In Europe, Volvo Cars reported a 32% increase in sales, with 25,489 cars sold in September. The Recharge models also saw significant growth in this region, reaching 13,599 cars sold, accounting for 53% of total sales.
In the US, Volvo Cars experienced a remarkable 65% growth in sales, with 10,946 cars sold in September. The Recharge models made up 28% of the overall sales in the US during this period.
In China, Volvo Cars saw a more modest 4% increase in sales with 15,460 cars sold in September. However, the sales of Recharge models grew by 20% compared to the same period last year.
The top-selling model for Volvo Cars globally in September was the XC60, with a total of 20,243 cars sold, followed by the XC40 with 18,306 cars sold and the Volvo XC90 with 8,530 cars sold.
