Suzuki to Showcase First Hydrogen Test Bike at 2023 Japan Mobility Show

The 2023 Japan Mobility Show is set to take place in Tokyo from October 28 to November 5, 2023. Honda has already revealed some of its offerings for the event, including the Pocket Concept electric folding bike. Now, Suzuki is joining in by unveiling its lineup for the show, which includes two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles as well as other projects.

Suzuki e-PO World Premiere

One of Suzuki’s world premiere vehicles at the show is the e-PO, a folding electric moped developed in collaboration with Panasonic. The e-PO is designed to function like an electric assist bicycle but with improved capabilities. It offers three modes of operation: full electric drive, assist drive, or pedal drive.

Suzuki e-Choinori World Premiere

Another collaboration between Suzuki and Panasonic is the e-Choinori, an electric scooter equivalent to Suzuki’s gas-powered Choinori scooter. The e-Choinori is a low-powered urban runabout.

Suzuki Hydrogen Burgman World Premiere

Suzuki has chosen the 2023 Japan Mobility Show to unveil its first-ever hydrogen-powered two-wheeler. Although it is currently a test vehicle and not in production, Suzuki is actively researching hydrogen engine development. The exhibit will feature a cutaway of the test vehicle, showcasing its hydrogen tank and engine, as well as panels and videos highlighting Suzuki’s progress in hydrogen engine development.

Suzuki e-Burgman

The e-Burgman is not a new vehicle, as Suzuki has been conducting demonstration experiments since April 2023. It utilizes swappable batteries from Gachaco and Suzuki aims to gather data from the public on current and future motorbike riding preferences.

Other Vehicles

Under the category of “Electric small mobility,” Suzuki will showcase three other world premiere vehicles. One of them is a unique four-legged vehicle called MOQBA, which can traverse flat ground and climb steps. Additionally, Suzuki will present two small ride-on four-wheeled vehicles called Suzu-Ride and Suzu-Cargo. The Suzu-Ride is more compact, while the Suzu-Cargo offers additional cargo space in its bed.

Suzuki will also exhibit the Flying Car electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) that it has been developing in collaboration with SkyDrive. Production of this vehicle is scheduled to begin in spring 2024 at Suzuki’s factory in Shizuoka prefecture.
