Maserati MC20 Was Initially Planned as an Alfa Romeo Supercar

When the first teaser images of the Maserati MC20 were released in early 2020, enthusiasts noticed that the car resembled a heavily modified 4C test mule. This is because the MC20 was originally intended to be an Alfa Romeo vehicle. In an interview with Australian magazine CarExpert, Daniel Guzzafame, the head of product at Alfa Romeo, revealed that the MC20 started its development as an Alfa before the decision was made to switch to the Maserati brand.

Even though the project eventually shifted to Maserati, there was still a possibility for Alfa Romeo to be involved again. The new 33 Stradale is closely connected to the MC20, but it is not simply a rebadged version of Maserati’s flagship model. Apart from having a different body, the front and rear suspension of the 33 Stradale are specifically designed, and both the front H-frame and the rear aluminum frame are unique to the vehicle.
