The subcompact SUV segment is set to see some exciting updates in the near future, with several models getting major facelifts, including the Mahindra XUV300. The upcoming Mahindra XUV300 facelift was recently spotted testing again, this time with less camouflage, giving us a better look at the changes. This will be the first significant update for the Mahindra SUV since its launch in 2019.

What can be seen in the spy shots?

From the spy shots, we can see the updated front fascia of the XUV300, which includes new LED DRLs, a revised front grille, and new bumpers. At the rear, the test mule appears to have connected LED taillights. The overall silhouette of the SUV is expected to remain unchanged, but it may receive newly designed alloy wheels.

Mahindra XUV300 FL Interior

The interior of the XUV300 facelift will also undergo significant updates. The spy shots reveal a large floating touchscreen unit, unlike the current model where the touchscreen is integrated into the dashboard. The central AC vents are now positioned below the touchscreen unit.

Along with the new touchscreen system, the XUV300 facelift is expected to come equipped with features such as a fully digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, cruise control, and ventilated front seats. The current model already offers equipment like a single-pane sunroof, cruise control, and automatic AC.

In terms of safety, Mahindra might provide the updated subcompact SUV with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera.

What about powertrains?

Mahindra XUV300 Engine

The facelifted XUV300 is expected to retain the current petrol and diesel engine options. These include a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110PS/200Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (117PS/300Nm). Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. The current XUV300 also offers a T-GDi (turbo-petrol) engine (130PS/250Nm), but it is only available with the 6-speed manual. There is a possibility that Mahindra will replace the existing AMT with a torque converter.

Expected price and rivals

The facelifted XUV300 is expected to be launched in early 2024 with a starting price of Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Tata Nexon facelift, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
