The MG Hector is the most expensive entry-level diesel option, starting from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). Its base variant is priced similarly to the mid-spec XUV700 AX5 and Seltos HTX Plus diesel.
-
The Hyundai Creta is the most affordable diesel SUV in this list, closely followed by the Seltos, with prices starting from Rs 12 lakh.

The top-end diesel manual Harrier is the most expensive and the only one that exceeds the Rs 25 lakh mark. It is over Rs 1.5 lakh more expensive than the top-spec XUV700 AX7 variant. However, it is not considered here as it only comes as a 7-seater, making it a closer rival to the Tata Safari.
-
The Tata Harrier facelift is equipped with a 170PS 2-liter diesel engine, similar to the MG Hector, which also has the same output. The Mahindra XUV700 comes with a 185PS 2.2-liter diesel engine, while the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have a 116PS 1.5-liter unit.
-
For transmission options, the Harrier, Hector, XUV700, and Creta have a 6-speed manual, while the Seltos offers an iMT option (manual without clutch pedal).
