Subaru has released a new series of six commercials featuring the Barkley family of golden retrievers and a golden labrador. These beloved dogs have been the stars of Subaru’s “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” commercial campaign in the past.

“On Repeat” is an ad for the Crosstrek that portrays a familiar situation for parents of young kids. The radio is playing an annoying children’s song, and as soon as it ends, the puppy in the backseat starts whining to hear it again.

In the commercial titled “Glamping Trip,” the dogs go camping in an Ascent. Two dalmatians are in a tent, and the Barkleys arrive towing a stylish dog house on a trailer. The dog house is complete with lights, flowers, and even a fire hydrant.

In the “Toys” commercial, two young dogs make a mess in the driveway and yard by scattering their playthings. The adult golden retriever arrives and creates a cacophony by running over the squeakers. The voiceover highlights the Forester’s ability to handle unexpected terrain.

The “College” commercial features one of the pups getting ready to leave for university. The Impreza RS, the car they are in, is packed with funny cargo like a box with a “Treats Treats Treats” display, as well as bowls and tennis balls. The labrador chases after the car as it drives away at the end of the ad.

In the camping-themed commercial “Everybody In,” the Barkleys are seen in a Crosstrek Wilderness with a roof-mounted tent. However, they are not the only ones who want to get in the sleeping area. The ad opens with the Barkleys running up a ramp, followed by a skunk. A flap comes down to prevent the skunk from entering.

The “Bikers” commercial is for the Outback. The Barkleys park in front of a restaurant and find a group of dogs on motorcycles. The puppy barks at them, and a tiny pup wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses barks back.

Subaru’s sales have been strong, with 354,481 units sold from January through July 2023, an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period last year.

The best-selling Subaru model in the first seven months of 2023 is the Outback, with 93,833 units sold. The Crosstrek comes in second place with 87,371 vehicles sold, followed by the Forester with 75,814 vehicles sold.
