The upcoming special edition might include a subwoofer and an amplifier for the regular variants of the two Volkswagen cars

Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun Sound edition

  • The ‘Sound’ edition is a newly designed special version of the SUV in addition to those unveiled earlier in 2023.

  • Both could feature special edition decals like the ones seen on the GT Edge Trail Edition.

  • There won’t be any mechanical changes; the Volkswagen duo comes with 1-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options.

Following the introduction of the GT Edge Trail Edition of the Volkswagen Taigun, the German carmaker has teased another special edition of the compact SUV. Known as the ‘Sound’ edition, it will also be offered with the Volkswagen Virtus and is scheduled to be launched tomorrow.

Potential Features

Based on its name, we anticipate that Volkswagen may introduce audio or music system-related changes with the special editions of its compact SUV and sedan offerings. Currently, only the GT Plus and GT Edge variants of the Taigun and Virtus come with a subwoofer and an amplifier, which could possibly be extended to the higher-spec variants under the Dynamic Line.

As it is a special edition, a few cosmetic changes can also be expected, such as unique decals similar to those on the Taigun’s GT Edge Trail Edition. It’s also important to note that this special edition is distinct from the models that Volkswagen unveiled in the first half of the year. While other car manufacturers have primarily focused on introducing special editions centered around cosmetic changes, Volkswagen seems to be the only one introducing a sound-specific edition.

No Changes Under the Hood

Volkswagen 1-litre turbo-petrol engine

The latest special edition will not include any mechanical changes. The Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus are available with two turbo-petrol engine options: a 1-litre 3-cylinder unit (115 PS/178 Nm) and a 1.5-litre engine (150 PS/250 Nm). Both engines come with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The 1-litre unit offers an optional 6-speed AT, while the 1.5-litre engine comes with a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) automatic option.
