Volkswagen presents the all-new Tiguan, the third generation of their popular SUV. The Tiguan has been a global bestseller since its debut in 2007, with over 7.6 million units sold. The new model will be available for purchase starting in early 2024.
Kai Grünitz, Brand Board Member for Technical Development, explains that the new Tiguan benefits from Volkswagen’s innovative Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB evo) platform, which allows for the integration of cutting-edge technologies like the DCC Pro adaptive chassis control and new hybrid drivetrains with an electric range of about 100 kilometers.
The new Tiguan is more efficient than ever before, thanks to its hybrid drivetrains and improved charging capabilities. It features a new Digital Cockpit, infotainment screen, and head-up display, all of which have been designed based on customer feedback. The interior is user-friendly and intuitive to operate. Other premium features, such as the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights and adaptive chassis control system, have been borrowed from Volkswagen’s higher-end models.
Expressive design & improved aerodynamics. The all-new Tiguan boasts a fresh design, featuring powerful-looking LED headlights and a sleek front end with air curtains for optimized airflow. The vehicle’s drag coefficient has been improved to 0.28, resulting in better aerodynamics. The Tiguan’s rear end is highlighted by a distinctive horizontal LED strip.
New cockpit and infotainment system generation. The all-new Tiguan features a redesigned interior with high-quality materials and a user-friendly layout. The Digital Cockpit offers a clear and customizable display, while the infotainment screen provides easy access to digital services and apps. The head-up display projects important information onto the windshield, and the multifunction driving experience switch allows for personalized settings. The new Tiguan also includes an IDA voice assistant for easy and natural language control.
Efficient range of drives. The Tiguan offers various drivetrain options, including turbo diesel engines, turbo gasoline engines, mild hybrid turbo gasoline engines, and plug-in hybrid systems. The gear shifting is done through a steering column switch, similar to Volkswagen’s ID. models and the new Passat. The Tiguan also features paddles behind the steering wheel for manual gear changes.
Electronically controlled running gear for added convenience and dynamics. The new Tiguan is equipped with an adaptive chassis control system called DCC Pro, which provides maximum comfort and agility. A Vehicle Dynamics Manager controls the electronic differential locks and shock absorbers, resulting in enhanced stability and performance during cornering.
Seats for long distances. The Tiguan offers ergoActive Plus seats with lumbar adjustment and a pressure massage function. The seats can be programmed to automatically activate heating or ventilation based on outside temperatures.
HD headlights in the Tiguan for the first time. The all-new Tiguan is the first Volkswagen model to feature IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights. These headlights use multipixel LEDs to provide enhanced illumination and improve overall safety and visibility.
High-performance assist systems. The Tiguan is equipped with numerous advanced driver assistance systems, such as Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, and Dynamic Road Sign Display. Additional optional features include Park Assist Pro with remote parking capability and Trailer Assist for assisted maneuvering with a trailer.
Larger luggage compartment in the Tiguan. The new Tiguan has increased its length by about three centimeters, resulting in a larger luggage compartment with a capacity of 652 liters.
