Take A Good Look At The Nearly Production Ready Lambretta Elettra

Nowadays, electric scooters are becoming increasingly common. There are a variety of options available to riders, ranging from practical yet uninspiring designs to models that are impressive and visually appealing. The Lambretta Elettra may fall into the latter category, although opinions on its design may vary.

Lambretta has stated that the Elettra is not a concept, but rather a nearly production-ready model. Although it is not yet in production, this is what it is expected to look like once it goes into mass production. This makes it a pre-production model—beyond the testing phase, but not at the finishing line just yet.

At the EICMA 2023 event, Lambretta provided details about the Elettra, rather than just showcasing its visual appeal.

Motor

The Elettra will be equipped with a four-kilowatt permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), capable of producing 11 kW at peak power. It offers a claimed torque of 258 newton meters, equivalent to approximately 190 pound-feet. The top speed is 110 kilometers per hour, or approximately 68 miles per hour.

Ride Modes and Ranges

The production version of the Lambretta Elettra will offer three ride modes: Eco, Ride, and Sport. According to Lambretta, the range could be as much as 127 km (about 79 miles) with an average speed of about 40 kilometers per hour (just under 25 mph).

However, riding at higher speeds could reduce the range to around 60 km (about 37 miles) with a continuous speed of 80 km/h (approximately 50 mph). Real-world range may likely fall between these two extremes, and it can also be influenced by factors such as wind conditions and terrain.

Battery and Charging

The Lambretta Elettra will be equipped with a 4.6-kilowatt hour lithium battery, which can be charged in approximately five and a half hours using a 220-volt outlet. Fast charging at a public station can bring the charge to 80 percent in just 36 minutes.

Other Useful Details

The Lambretta Elettra features a very accessible seat height of 780mm (just under 31 inches) and a claimed curb weight of 135 kg (just under 298 pounds). Its low center of gravity should make handling easy. The scooter will ride on a pair of 12-inch wheels and employ a traditional trailing-link suspension in the front, and a single shock absorber connected to the swingarm in the rear. The turn signals are integrated into the ends of the handlebars, while the brake levers can retract to be flush with the handlebars. Additionally, the body can lift up to expose the motor and battery simply by pushing a button.

According to the official EICMA announcement, the Elettra will soon join Lambretta’s existing scooter range, although specific pricing and availability details have not yet been released.
