Longtime Motorcycle Journalist And Photographer Evans Brasfield Has Passed Away

On September 14, 2023, the sad news was announced by Motorcycle.com that their editor in chief, Evans Brasfield, had died in a crash. The incident took place on September 13, 2023, and was announced on social media by Brasfield’s wife, Karin. Full details of the accident have not been disclosed.

Karin wrote, “Dear friends and family, we wanted to let you know that we have suffered a great loss. Evans was in an accident yesterday and did not survive. He was our rock, our beloved, world’s best Dad and my life partner for over 30 years. His absence leaves a gaping hole in our hearts. We are honestly not sure how we will live without him. We would appreciate your love and prayers at this time.”

Brasfield was widely respected within and outside the industry for his skills as a journalist, his integrity, and his contributions to the world of motorcycling. Though I did not know him well, I can say from the few times I met him that he was always kind and generous with his insights.

Since the news broke, numerous stories have emerged about the ways Brasfield influenced and guided multiple motorcycle journalists on their respective paths. These stories serve as beautiful tributes, but they also highlight the tragic nature of his passing.

Brasfield is survived by his wife, Karin, and his two daughters. His untimely death leaves a void in the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire motorcycle community. Motorcycle.com plans to organize a tribute but is understandably still dealing with profound shock, so it may take some time. Their initial post will be linked in our Sources for anyone interested in following their updates.

We at RideApart offer our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Brasfield’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched during his unfortunately brief time on this planet. While riders may venture out alone from time to time, it is individuals like Evans who ensure they are never truly riding alone.
