Toyota showcased several concept vehicles at the Japan Mobility Show, but the EPU Concept (Electric Pickup) stood out as a potential contender for production. However, despite three years of development at the Calty Design Research Center in California, the project has not yet received the go-ahead for production.

An unnamed executive at Toyota Motor North America revealed that their region is pushing for the truck’s production. Nevertheless, the final decision lies with Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. The main hurdle appears to be reducing the cost to ensure it doesn’t overlap too much with the price of the Tacoma.
