When asked about the possibility of using smaller surface area for solar panel conversion, Musk explained that the solar energy available is limited to a kilowatt per square meter when facing the sun directly. He further mentioned that the efficiency of commercial solar panels is typically around 25%, resulting in approximately 50 watts per square meter of energy.

Although Joe Rogan mentioned the use of solar power in cars, Musk reiterated that the limited surface area on cars makes it impractical to fully power them using solar energy. However, he emphasized that solar energy can effectively power a house, especially with the Tesla Solar Roof, which is designed specifically for households.
