Toyota Recalls Certain 2023 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, Tacoma, and Lexus RX and 2024 NX Models

PLANO, Texas (July 12, 2023) Toyota is conducting a safety recall in the U.S. for certain 2023 model year Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross hybrid, Highlander, Highlander hybrid, Tacoma, as well as Lexus RX and RX hybrid and 2024 model year NX and NX hybrid vehicles. This recall affects approximately 110,000 vehicles in the U.S.

The issue with the affected vehicles is with the spiral cable assembly in the steering column. There is a possibility that it may lose its electrical connection on the circuit that controls the driver’s airbag. If this happens, the airbag warning light will turn on, and the driver’s airbag may not deploy in the event of a crash. This non-compliance with federal motor vehicle safety requirements could increase the risk of injury to the driver.

To address this issue, Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the serial number of the spiral cable and, if necessary, replace it with a new cable free of charge for customers. Affected owners will be notified about this recall by early September 2023.

Toyota Recalls Certain 2021-2022 Model Year Toyota RAV4 Prime and Certain 2022 Model Year Lexus NX450h+ Plug-in Hybrid Models

PLANO, Texas (July 12, 2023) – Toyota is recalling certain Toyota RAV4 Prime and Lexus NX450h+ vehicles from the 2021-2022 model years in the U.S. This recall affects approximately 43,000 vehicles.

The issue involves a component in the vehicles’ manufacturing process that converts electricity voltage. This component may be damaged and could lead to a short circuit, causing excessive heat. In certain conditions, this heat could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

To address this safety concern, Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the problematic DC-DC converter with an improved part at no cost to customers. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified about this recall by early September 2023.

Toyota Recalls Certain 2023 Tundra, Tundra Hybrid and Sequoia Hybrid Models

PLANO, Texas (July 7, 2023) – Toyota is issuing a safety recall in the U.S. for specific 2023 Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and Sequoia Hybrid vehicles. This recall affects approximately 1,400 vehicles in the U.S.

The affected vehicles have a spare tire carrier assembly that utilizes a steel chain to secure the spare tire underneath the vehicle. It has been discovered that the chain links may not have been welded properly. As a result, these chain links could break at any time, causing the spare tire to detach from the vehicle. If this happens while the vehicle is in motion, the detached spare tire could pose a road hazard to other drivers and vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

To address this issue, Toyota dealerships will replace the spare tire carrier assembly with a new one at no charge to the owners of affected vehicles. Toyota plans to notify owners about this recall by early September 2023.

Toyota Recalls Certain 2023 Camry and Camry Hybrid Models

PLANO, Texas (June 15, 2023) – Toyota is recalling a specific group of Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles in the U.S. This recall affects approximately 300 vehicles.

The issue with these vehicles is that the lug nuts may have been tightened insufficiently. As a result, the lug nuts may become loose and detach, potentially causing a wheel to come off while driving with low mileage. This poses a significant risk of losing control of the vehicle and increases the chances of a crash. It is crucial that owners of these vehicles refrain from driving them until the necessary repairs have been made.

To address the issue, Toyota dealers will inspect the lug nuts of the affected vehicles and tighten them to the correct specifications. If any damaged components are found, they will be replaced free of charge for the owners.

Starting from June 15, 2023, Toyota will inform the owners of the affected vehicles about the recall through various communication channels.
