Proven Manufacturing Leader Named to Industry Hall of Fame

Janette Hostettler Honored for Leadership in Manufacturing, Named VP of Manufacturing at Toyota Kentucky

GEORGETOWN, KY (Oct. 4, 2023) – Janette Hostettler has been recognized for her expertise and leadership in the manufacturing industry. She was recently inducted into the Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame along with nine other women. The induction ceremony took place on September 26, 2023, in San Diego, California.

In addition to this honor, Hostettler has been appointed as the vice president of manufacturing at Toyota Kentucky, the largest manufacturing facility of the company worldwide. This comes after her role as the senior vice president of manufacturing at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A, Inc. (MTMUS) in Alabama.

Hostettler expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled by the news of my selection as an inductee in the WiM Hall of Fame and by the opportunity to join Toyota Kentucky as its vice president of manufacturing. My career at Toyota has been an incredible journey, offering me opportunities I never thought possible. I am excited about sharing my expertise and empowering other women while helping lead Toyota Kentucky into the future of automotive manufacturing.”

Hostettler began her career at Toyota in July 2000 as a paint quality engineer at the Princeton, Indiana plant. Over the years, she has been promoted to various positions within the company, gaining experience in quality control, paint, plastics, and plant engineering. In 2014, she became the general manager of assembly before being assigned to MTMUS.

In her new role at Toyota Kentucky, Hostettler will lead a team of 9,500 members and support the plant’s transformation to its operations and capabilities. Toyota Kentucky is set to become the first Toyota plant in North America to produce a battery electric vehicle (BEV) starting in 2025.

Kerry Creech, president of Toyota Kentucky, expressed confidence in Hostettler’s capabilities, stating, “Janette brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. We look forward to how she will help Toyota Kentucky deliver on its promise to transform our operations as we continue producing quality products, including future electrified options.”

The Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) established the Hall of Fame in 2019 to honor women who have made significant contributions to the manufacturing industry. Inductees are recognized for their efforts in supporting, promoting, and inspiring other women in manufacturing.

Hostettler joins three other Toyota professionals who have been inducted into the WiM Hall of Fame – Leah Curry, president of Toyota Indiana (2022); Susan Elkington, senior vice president of electric vehicle supply at Toyota North America (2019); and Millie Marshall, retired president of Toyota Indiana (2021).
