Toyota Recalls Certain 2013-2018 Toyota RAV4 Models

Date: November 1, 2023

Toyota is issuing a safety recall for certain 2013-2018 Toyota RAV4 vehicles in the United States. This recall affects approximately 1,854,000 vehicles.

The issue pertains to some replacement 12-volt batteries that have smaller top dimensions. If a smaller battery is used and not properly secured, it could move during forceful turns while driving. This movement may cause the positive battery terminal to come into contact with the hold-down clamp and potentially create a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

To address the issue, Toyota is currently working on a remedy. Once the remedy is available, Toyota dealers will replace the battery hold-down clamp, battery tray, and positive terminal cover with improved components at no cost to owners. Toyota plans to notify affected customers by late December 2023.

It’s important to note that the information regarding automotive recalls, including the list of affected vehicles, is current as of the filing date and may be subject to change.
