How Different Is It On The Inside?

Compared to the model that was sold in India, the new Carnival gets a more modern cabin, having a white and grey theme. You can also notice Kia’s decision to give it a very minimalistic appeal, as is the case with most new cars now-a-days. The new Carnival is available in 7-, 9- and 4-seater layouts in its home country.

The cabin’s highlight, though, has to be the dual curved displays (measuring 12.3 inches each), which are useful for instrumentation and infotainment functions. Features on offer include a heads-up display, a massive 14.6-inch rear entertainment screen, and ambient lighting. It also comes with dual sunroofs, multi-zone climate control, powered front seats, and an air purifier.

Available With Both Petrol And Diesel Powertrains

The facelifted fourth-gen Carnival is being provided with three engine options: a 2.2-litre diesel, a 3.5-litre V6 petrol and a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid. While the exact outputs of the 2.2-litre diesel and 3.5-litre petrol units are yet to be disclosed, Kia says the new petrol-hybrid powertrain can produce a maximum of 245 PS (system) and 180 PS (engine). It remains to be seen which powertrain options make it to the India-spec model expected next year.

The India-spec Carnival was equipped with a 200PS 2.2-litre diesel engine, mated to an 8-speed automatic, which powered the front wheels.

Expected Price And Rivals

We believe the new Kia Carnival could be priced from Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). It won’t have any direct rival in our market. That said, the new Carnival will be positioned as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross in our market.
